Quote:"I'm going to take that one, OK? Those were taken out of context, OK, and that's not right," Carey said. "He didn't say that, and I want to say I've been waiting until after the game to say that. That was taken out [of context] and everybody made a big deal out of it. I was there. I was at the interview. He did not make those comments."

Why?

IF Lynch was attributed quotes he didn't say - or was taken wildly out of context - I don't understand why you'd let bogus quotes hang around his neck until after the game.

The bulletin board material didn't decide the final outcome, but they provide extra motivation to a favored opponent who didn't need any extra intangible benefits.

And IF Lynch did say those quotes... not a wise move.

Lynch did make the comments. The reporter confirmed last night and also Coach Carey did the day he made them. Coach Carey even defended the comments as "showing confidence". The post game press conference was handled very poorly by Carey.

He is learning as he goes and this will hopefully be great experience for him.

who cares what was said now, who cares? We know it was a good game minus the mistakes and couple questionable calls.
Congrats to FSU, and NIU.

"He's terrible. I can't believe they tried us like that. They tried our life, man. ... He's not good at all.", FSU LB Vince Williams on Lynch.

Watching some of the reply now. The pregame looked pretty solid and I think the announcers did a good job. Time to see how their tones changed after the game moved along.

I think he basically meant that Lynch tried to beat them at what they are good at, "our living," maybe, rather than "our life."

This is probably the best description. Unlike NIU and most of the other FBS schools, a lot of the big programs are a stepping stone to the NFL for many players rather than a place to get an education.

FSU is known for sending defensive players to the NFL, since 1990 FSU has had around 70 defensive players drafted by NFL teams, and 17 were on NFL rosters in 2012.

RE: Orange Bowl Game Thread
I finally had a chance to read the Orange Bowl game thread.
I am happily shocked by the number of people who posted who were not affiliated with NIU...and supported us. Wow.
Of course our fellow MAC teams...Toledo, WMU, Miami but also people outside of the MAC. It was really nice to have all that support.

I would also like to say that I personally intend to support any and all of our fellow MAC teams WHOLEHEARTEDLY should they get into a game as big as us being in the Orange Bowl.

Thank you ALL who cheered on NIU. We appreciate it! 04-cheers

It has been one hell of a ride!

Still very proud of the 2012 huskies, and oh, what an amazing, unexpected journey this season has been!

Yes, speed kills.....there were at least a couple of plays where Jordan ran to the outside, but couldn't pick up the necessary yds.....I thought we relied too much on the inside run game w/ Lynch.......and he missed a couple of chances with M. Moore on pass plays

I think this was huge for JL's confidence...it seemed he was almost shocked that he got to the edge and there was no running room. Previously if he got outside of containment it was a 7-10 yd gain. against FSU it would only be 1-2.

I still do not understand the QB keepers straight up the middle. I don't think Lynch handed it once to the RB on the read option. Either he didn't play that well tonight or the play calls really limited him to taking a beating. Hopefully he will bounce back from this which based on his character, I am sure he will.

Those runs up the middle killed him. If he would have gotten any space I'm sure he would have had a few 10 yard runs, just didn't happen. Hats of to FSU and their d flying around. Lots of talent, unfortunately I felt they lived up to typical stereotypes but whatever, not a big deal. Here's to seeing you guys down the road perhaps. 04-cheers

Orange Bowl Game Thread
Just watched the replay of the Orange Bowl after not being able to watch it for a couple of days. Probably beating a dead horse, but the game seemed closer on TV than it felt in the stadium for some reason. If we could have gotten better games from Lynch and Moore we could have definitely left Miami with a victory. A few plays with miss throws or drops really hurt our flow and confidence throughout the game. Everybody really battled and very proud of the team as they never quit. Just tough to see we had a legitimate shot a shocking the world.

I didn't know that Daniels was struggling with an ankle injury. Guess that explains why they didn't hand off much. Too bad we were thin at that position.

Agree. We NEED some RBs for next year.
