Damn! The "housecleaning" has begun! Only one on there that actually surprised me was Rex Ryan's "safe" call, & not seeing Garrett's name on here as "fired". Glad about it, though, their GM was a real "goober." Good for the Chargers getting rid of that "Poindexter", Norv Turner, the "Neil Callaway of the NFL"...Time for "Chucky" (Gruden) to come back for a sequel. Plenty of teams vying for his services.

It appears the NFL is looking for coaches that play up tempo.

If Sparano gets canned in NY, that will mean the last two Miami Dolphin HC's (Cam Cameron being the other) couldn't even hang on to a job as an OC.

I'm thinking Andy Reid to San Diego. He and maybe Lovie Smith are the only head coaches fired that I'd consider viable hires.

That idiot GM with the Jets should be pilloried for the contract he gave Sanchez. He hamstrung the club for two more years easy. I give him a pass on Tebow, I think that was the owner's idiocy.

I've heard Oregon's Chip Kelly is a 'probable' coach to jump to the NFL... not sure if it would have to be a west coast gig, but SD and Zona are now possibilities...

Chicago's firing of Lovie Smith was a bit of a surprise. Why hasn't Marty Schottenheimer's name not been mentioned as a candidate? Watched 3 episodes of "The Football Life" yesterday (Steve McNair, Eddie DeBartolo, The Fearsome Foursome), what an incredible series.

I find the Jets situation interesting.

They keep Ryan (who wouldn't play Tebow), yet they get rid of the OC & the GM who traded for Tebow.

I thought that at first, too, but it looks like Arizona is a more likely landing spot for Reid. He's also interviewing with the Chiefs.

I doubt it. He's from New Hampshire, and was on the East Coast for his whole career leading up to the gig at Oregon.

Look for Bruce Arians to get a call from someone. He did a great job as interim HC at Indy this season.

Believe it or not, he was very interested in the UAB job when we hired CNC.

Bruce may have been mentioned for the San Diego job.

RE: NBR: NFL Firings
In terms of FBHCs at top tier collegiate programs, I fail to see the attraction of trading a potential of 25 "first round draft (RECRUITING) choices" for a pro coach's ONE every 32 choices-without trades. All of the top tier of schools usually get 7 to 10 of these "top 150-200" players. If they fail to do so, they don't get into the "Top 10" in recruiting rankings, and some seem to "live there".
