Reminds me of an old Detroit Pistons story, apparently true, from the 1960s (?).

They had a local 7 footer named Reggie Harding. Never went to college. Was brought in as a project to go against players like Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, etc. Had some abilities.

Apparently had serous drug issues and after his NBA career ended he resorted to robbery.

He'd do a disguise and stick up a place. The Detroit police would say, "Hey Reggie we know it is you".

Pretty much everybody on Toledo's roster misses 7 footers with stunning regularity.
