I don't know what's worse, that the field looks like **** or the fact that no one is there.
28-7 UCF at the half.

A little thing called defense would sure help.
As I've always said, being a MAC fan builds character.

I would've hoped that Indianapolis would've gotten their act together by now and started a bowl game for 2014 - every other neutral championship game site has one. It's a nice, growing city that has a beautiful football facility, that'd be an ideal place to play. Being a St. Louisan, I know that there have been rumors of a bowl game starting up at Busch Stadium, although the earliest we'll get one is in the 2018 cycle. I can't see us hosting an outdoor bowl in the winter, we'll have to wait for the pending renovations to the Edward Jones Dome until we could even think about it. While it's not an ideal location, I think we'd prefer it over some of our present destinations, and we might have a shot to face off against the SEC with Mizzou being the big team there.

Yes, it would be nice to have a bowl game in Indy or St. Louis, but before it could happen we need a complete RESHUFFLE of these bowl games after the realignment mess is stabilized.
The whole bowl scene is so fragmented.
Who wants to start a game now to get say the MAC 4th or 5th pick or maybe the B12 8th or 9th pick?
Indy would be perfect for say MAC #1 or #2 vs. Big Ten #7.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to say schools like CMU, UT, BG, etc. would be perfect for Detroit and schools like BSU, NIU, Miami, etc. would be perfect for Indy.
However both sides of my proposal are taken.
Yet, there is going to have to be a lot of trading once realignment is complete and bowls discover the existing order doesn't work any longer.

No one is ever at that game.
Anyway, UCF receivers blocked very well, they were faster and stronger than Ball State defenders. And the UCF QB had nice speed. I was disppointed that UCF had some cheap shots, and I did see a couple of bad calls against BSU...that doesn't help either.

RE: Ball State-UCF game thread
I remember the field looking just as bad last year and it was the worst attended bowl of the season with FIU and Marshall in the game. Looks like it is still the ugliest field with the lowest attendance this year. An ugly start to the MAC bowl games......we keep getting waxed like this in bowl games and the newfound "MACtion" respect we've been getting will be soon forgotten.

Ball State is 0-7-1 in eight bowl appearances, according to ESPN.

While I think the BE model is fairly flawed in its new format, they're going the right direction by making the bowls specific to each team if they're eligible, much like the Hawaii Bowl. Making bowl matchups by geography or conference division is smart, and probably the wave of the future. With so much realignment, fan apathy is going to climb higher and higher, and interesting bowl matchups would help stop it.
I think what will happen with the MAC is that we'll take over the C-USA bid to the Hawaii and/or Military bowls. If we keep up our football momentum from this year, we can gain some leverage in bowl matchups and locations, so then it'll be time to start some games up in Indy. By that point, our MAC footprint will most likely be a lot different, so that'll determine what we want. I can see us taking in stAte, WKU, UMass in full, and either JMU, Delaware, or App. State. Ideally, we could have bowls in Indy and Detroit for the West, Pinstripe and Military for the East, with Hawaii and/or Godaddy.com not having a preference.
As far as the crowd and field goes, I think it's pretty pathetic. The Trop isn't a great place to see baseball, I don't think football is much better either. With the Outback Bowl across the bay being a much higher profile game in a much better location at a better venue, it's no wonder they draw badly, especially when one of your teams has to travel from Indiana.

RE: Ball State-UCF game thread
Ball State players were extremely classy in respect to their gamesmanship. No cheap shots at all.
Your fans are wonderful people. I have family up in Indiana, and a few friends who attend Ball U. Always love playing MAC schools.
I am very disappointed in the officiating at times, and some of our players. There was a no-call offsides, and a pass interference on BSU that should have been an incomplete. Ball U pass defense came to play in the first half...but we just kept pushing.
