Everybody's getting an invite to join a new conference except UAB. Heck, why don't New Mexico and Colorado State join Conference USA? I would love to have them.

I'd like to limit any conference we're in to two time zones.

We will all be in one league so to speak soon enough with each pod's champions playing. Whoever makes it through alive is the only bid into the playoff the teams outside of the big 5 (possibly 4) will get. It's not going to matter what conference it is. Georgia State will have the same shot to make it to the Championship as Memphis or Boise State. Troy the same as BYU. UAB the same as Colorado State and so on. Win your pod and advance. The last game in a 12 game schedule will be left open and teams seeded. The Big 5 or 4 will sign off on one extra game added to that to make sure only one team can be a fly in the punch bowl and not multiple. We will all get more money and told to shut up and there will be peace in the valley for a while until we all get fed up and raise hell in the future.

Yep! UTEP and Tulsa are frequently mentioned for the MWC, and Marshall and Southern Miss for the Big East.

UAB? Rarely if ever even mentioned for any thing.

If UTEP and Tulsa go to the MWC I am pretty sure it will be by mutual agreement to balance everything out. I would not lose three seconds of sleep over UAB not being mentioned to basically remain status quo in the big picture. It won't matter what league you are in.

If UAB is the last remaining original CUSA school does UAB get ALL exit fee money?

Banowsky is going to use it as his golden parachute. UAB will get the rice cakes and sticky notes out of his desk drawer.

& yet all of the teams mentioned are still in our league.

I wouldn't get too concerned about the western most schools going to the MWC.

All that would mean is that CUSA can further concentrate on the Southeast.

You keep stating something like this will happen, but I just can't see it. The main reason is it makes too much damn sense at this point. Who is going to tell Boise and BYU and ECU that they are going to have to compete with Georgia State if they want a chance to play in the playoff? Personally, I want to go to what is currently the Big East. Take Tulsa, Marshall, USM, and maybe add Charlotte, ODU, La Tech, and MTSU. Make it a big group, and make it much more competitive than what C-USA is going to be, or the Sun Belt or MAC are. I see the MWC eventually taking some of the western schools in C-USA if the Boise to the Big East deal falls through. Those 2 conferences would then be much better than the schools left over.(I'm more pissed about the basketball adds in the new C-USA than anything; I want to be in a league where 2-3 bids is at least possible.)

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time you have to understand where CUSA stood as far as league prowess, after the last big Big East raid at that time we were left with a 1 Bid league, usually Memphis, now we are possibile still in a one bid league.
However, it doesnt have to be that way, as we did before, we can up grade our scheduling, up grade recruiting, we can win, improve RPI and make ourseleves attractive.
Or we can be poor CUSA we are doomed, or the little league that could.
We have done it before, what we need to do is make sure when this happens again we are in a position of strength.

RE: And the plot thickens...CSU, NM interested in forming new league
C-USA got multiple bids even after the last split up.(UAB, UTEP, and Southern Miss are the 3 I can think of off the top of my head) C-USA also had multiple teams on the bubble every year.

Sure, we can upgrade our scheduling OOC, but what can you do about the games versus UTSA, FIU, FAU, etc. Those games will be RPI killers. I know MTSU, Charlotte, and ODU are good basketball adds, but the national opinion of the league as a whole is going to matter some. I think we are going to have a lot of good teams, but few great ones. That is going to hurt come Selection Sunday in my opinion, especially with the bottom feeders that were added that will be on our schedule. No point in crying about it now, but if we get that invite to the Big East, I say jump ship, especially if Southern Miss and Marshall are involved.

At least Tulane is being allowed to carve a path toward changing that perception, eh?
