ESPN Mid-major b-ball poll.
I know there is some aversion here to the entire "mid-major" classification, but this power poll vividly illustrates how bad a year the MAC is having as only OU, struggling to take the last place on the poll at #15, is even listed for the MAC.

Actually Toledo is 6th, BG 18th and CMU 24th. You just need to expand your viewpoint. The MAC women are having a pretty decent year.

Try this one.. its more than the BCS biased ESPN's opinion.

RE: ESPN Mid-major b-ball poll.
I've followed the College Insider MM Poll for years and while they mean well, and I appreciate what it takes to try and put something like that together, I don't think the voters/coaches really pay too much attention to what the other teams are doing. There is a terrible lag most of the time from week to week. Teams will lose a couple of games and it just won't show up in the poll in a timely way. They won't drop much for a week or two, and then they might have a winning week then they start to drop. The movement in that poll often just doesn't make any sense based on what teams did in the week previous. It's too bad, but it's hard to take it seriously, even as seriously as you can take any poll, which isn't much to begin with.

I'm not sure why the Bobcats are still ranked as high as they are. Not trying to diss the team, but this is the same kind of crap that we complain about when the AQ teams continue to be ranked above teams from non-AQ teams. Teams that start the year at the top of rankings slowly fall, while teams not ranked have a hard climb.

well, despite how poorly we've been playing lately, this is still a good team. i'm sure the pollsters aren't quite ready to give up on the team yet even though it appears some fans might be.

Bobcats aren't there yet. They got talent and a proven coach. My guess is that the seniors will step up and play to their abilities at some point. It probably a good thing that they got humbled a bit non-conference. Expectations were set high and they failed to meet those expectations so far. Still 18 games left plus the MAC tournament to go. Winthrop loss might be the best thing to happen to them as that will remind them that they can't take teams for granted even at home. Akron has a similar loss to Coastal Carolina. Akron has played better since that loss. Non-conference is like the NBA where the Wizzards beat the Heat. That doesn't happen when the post season hits. Once the good teams get focused they don't have losses like that.

Good example of how this poll lags behind too far to have much credibility: Ohio has a winning week and drops 3 spots to 14. It's not just them, either. The coaches just don't pay much attention to the teams outside the top 5 or so best, which is no surprise. If they showed the teams' outcomes each week next to the ranking movement, it would make this poll look really silly.
