RE: NIU-DePaul
They're better than last year.
Not sure how much, but they're better.

They have a go to guy, his name is abdel nader. NIU made 7 of the 8 free-throws they shot. DePaul made 21 of the 25 free-throws the shot. It is hard to win when the other team scores 14pts more off free-throws. Springs is the second go to guy. Springs shot well but his minutes were limited because he kept turning the ball over. We need two more guys to reach double figures. Baker, springs and nader have to start. Between, bolin, mader and gray, two of them have to step up and claim their starting spot.

It's very obvious that Nader is and will be the go-to guy. Playing outside like he does, he's a very tough matchup for a smaller defender. And, when he develops his post-up game, look out!

For this team to be successful, Mader has to play, IMO.

In this game they were better on free throws.
I mean a guy they can go to in crunch time that can make the shot that puts them ahead so they win. This was another game where they were in position to have a lead when the time ran out and they didn't really even get a good shot off.

Did Nader add size this offseason, he just looked bigger to me today. Coach Monty really got on him once for not getting back on defense after a basket, he seemed to handle the critique pretty good. With Nader back and someone that can take it to the basket, I think individuals are becoming more comfortable in their roles. This team should win a good number of MAC games,

Nader is definitely bigger and stronger. Regarding his defense, I also saw a couple times on defense where he was slow getting out on DePaul's 3-point shooters and it cost us. If he wants more PT, he'll learn to pick it up on the defensive end.

I think the problem with Nader is he fouls too much. If he fouls out or gets in early foul trouble the team is in trouble. THey need someone else they can put in to capably replace him when he gets in foul trouble.
