Each team would more than likely spend a lot less money on travel and we will see the stands filled up with REGIONAL rivalries and regional visiting teams filling the corners of the stadiums. It will become A LOT BETTER FOOTBALL FOR FOOTBALL'S SAKE instead of DECENT FOOTBALL FOR $'S SAKE.

It won't happen, but a boy can dream right??

Keep the dream alive brotha. This would be the best thing that could happen, but the powers are to proud and ego driven to see it. How great would it be when half of your road games are within an easy 3-5 hour drive.

I can understand this dream if you are in your area of the country, as an extremely regional league could be formed for you guys. ECU faces much different circumstances in terms of the number of non-AQ teams in our general area. There is no non-AQ league that can ever form that would fit that for us, so for ECU it's about being with a group of schools that are most closely our peers in terms of facilities, support, history, and budget.

I guess there's always the WAC:

Pacific:
Seattle
Cal State-Bakersfield
Utah Valley
Grand Canyon

Southwest:
New Mexico State
UTPA
SMU
Houston

Southeast:
Tulane
Memphis
South Florida
Central Florida

Northeast:
Cincinnati
Chicago State
Temple
Connecticut

Football only:
San Diego State
Boise State
East Carolina
Navy (2015)

If Idaho can back out of the Big Sky with equal swiftness, the Vandals can join the fray.

HMMMM... maybe THIS is what one of my USA athletic department buds meant when he told me we were speaking seriously to the Big East? After all, we were drinking brewskis together and his comment was vague (lots left to interpretation for me) and it was a beer-drinkin' and football watchin' scenario so I didn't push for more info (I wouldn't do that anyway, BTW)...

I guess I'm wondering if he meant "we" as in the SBC (vs USA) were chatting behind the scenes with bEAST schools about to be cast aside vs chatting seriously with the bEAST *conference* itself? At least it'd make a bit more sense to moi if that were the case.

INTERESTING INDEED!!!!
