RE: Champlin: New QB
I always figured that Craft wouldn't see time at QB and would be moved to another position (slot receiver or DB?)

As for the rest, here's what we have:

Brown (valuable experience, beat up like Rihanna in 3/4 season)
Perry (massive speculation of transfer)
Greer (looks to be prototypical Stache QB, redshirt with no experience)
Briscoe (grayshirt with no game experience yet)

Could Greer be saying adios as well? You would think Brown would want to stick around and compete for the starting role.

RE: Champlin: New QB
IMHO, the only scenario whereby Brown is NOT the QB next season is if he leaves. The kid got valuable experience and looked pretty good most of the time - even though he was hurt. And he was the QB on the C-USA All-Freshmen team...

RE: Champlin: New QB
I heard Greers dad was concerned about him getting a chance to start. I don't know if that was because of AB or the talk about this new kid. IIRC Greer was also recruited by McGee at Ark. And he's from Texas. I am kinda wondering about the stack up at this position too. I know HCGM is QB guy but there are some other holes. Maybe some will leave but not 3 or 4.

Sometimes you can have too many people at QB that are competing.

Greer won't be back, he posted that on twitter last week. Craft is transferring out to play baseball somewhere.

Points to ponder: He's only got one year of eligibility remaining, so he would have to transfer to a lower-division school to play immediately, right? Also, he's been at UAB for four years. If he hasn't graduated yet, his decision might come down to which school's name he wants on his diploma: UAB or Podunk U.

He could graduate in spring and go wherever for a year. Keep that in mind.

Mike Davis leaves & we forget all about that rule.

(Even though Haase utilized it with Jones)

Damn. That's 3 if you count JP(and think you can). I said earlier it wouldn't be 3 or 4. I stand corrected.

We need some QBs boys! STAT!

That means a couple of grey shirt positions are open & we still have 25+ people to sign in February, only around a half dozen slots open.

I hate to see Craft go. I don't know what he might have been able to do on the field, but his Blazer Belief through last season's coaching change really impressed me. Good luck to him, whatever he gets up to.

I never though Craft would see PT at QB for UAB, so that one doesn't shock me. Losing Greer does, but I can understand him wanting to play instead of potentially sitting on the bench for 4 more years.

Like I said, his Dad was concerned about just that. I guess we now know the result.

It does say alot about AB, though, I believe.

He was Callaway's recruit and Greer was McGee's.

Let this be noted.

Maybe there was some conflict with one of the assistants I don't know?

What would make you say that? Just curious?

If he stayed around for football, I agree with Blaerdawg, why wouldn't want to stay and play baseball?
Is he not good enough to play for UAB BB?

RE: Champlin: New QB
So our QBs for next year are:

Perry (for now)
Brown
Briscoe
Miller (walk-on)

Is that correct?
