i actually came up with 'big lots u' a few years ago. other than stumbling across browning ulm has done nothing to convince me they're anything but a shoestring budget big lots wannabe. i know that hurts. i'm sure uk fans feel the same about western.

Plus, what does last year have to do with this year?

There is no question that MTSU was the best team over the course of the entire year last year.

But I also firmly believe that WKU was the best team at the end of last year as evidenced by our win head to head and the fact that we beat 4 Sun Belt teams in four days and they could not beat 3 Sun Belt teams is three days.

As for what that has to do with this year....

MTSU returned most all of thier team, we returned most all of our team. It will be an interesting race and is NOT a given. Shoot it is still possible that some other team will start to click and win it. WKU has been the front runner many times only to falter. That was Beed's point by the way. Not that MTSU wasn't good, only that he wasn't conceding anything.

I will say this. If MTSU don't win it this year then Kermit is going to C-USA limping. They lose 57% of thier scoring after this year and 52% of thier rebounding. This is thier one best last shot.

EDIT: AND although the regular season title IS a better indicator of the best team, it really doesn't matter all that much. It is the tournament winner that goes to the NCAA. And believe me that is ALL that REALLY matters. Maybe some day we will get all the Sun Belt teams winning non conference games and then we can start getting at large bids!

exactly amigo. i just was channeling my inner denny green:

the blue raiders are who i thought they were. they beat us at their place early in ray's tenure...but it was a game for 39 minutes. if junior wanted to crown 'em....then hell, he shoulda crowned them. the blue raiders were who i thought they were. that's why we took the damn court in bowling green and beat 'em.

now if junior wants to crown 'em already this year he can crown 'em!!!

but i'm not ready to. western is no longer coached by ken mcdummy who was kermit's b!tch. ray is in charge now. he's 1-1 against kermit.

we should have hella games against 'em this year. middle had a great year last year and beat some ooc folks that shoulda had them in consideration for an at large. they're doing the same thing this year.

ray harper is 15-3 in his last 18 games at western. so if anyone on this board wants to crown middle ya'll go right ahead and crown 'em. i'm just not ready to do that.

If we can develop any kind of consistency and a game against the press I think we might be able to contend against WKU and MTSU this year. Those are big ifs, however.
