It seems that FCS is about the purest type of college football these days.

Same here. Until then, as karl benson recently said "Middle Tennessee is still a full-fledged member of the Sun Belt" (whether he plans to treat MT as one or not) and we all will have to deal with that and MT fans, whether it is until the summer of 2013 or later.

I get the inept part as possibly being true, but you guys have yet to provide one shred of evidence of an agenda by Benson from day one to the last day to demean or treat Middle badly giving Middle one of the premier teams out the league more motivation to leave.

I liked Waters.

Not that it matters any longer, but Wright Waters was employed at UL in the athletic department. When the Cajuns replaced one of its athletic directors he wanted the job but was not hired. He has remained bitter about the process since and once he left for Tulane he constantly gave the UL athletic department a hard time about scheduling any of the Green Wave athletic programs. Behind the scenes he continued to bad mouth UL to Tulane alumni at every opportunity as well as his friends in Lafayette.

Now this is the guy that we had to accept as head of our conference for years.

I never said Waters had an agenda. In fact I had several lunches with Wrong Waters, as one of my older Cajun friends was a friend of WW.

Fact is I was impressed with him in person, until he told us the best thing about the job, and why he would never leave except for the Bama ad spot.

Holding my breath, he would say he wanted to build this conference into a Big East level only to find out....drum roll
He did not have to work too hard. In fact he was leaving for the New Orleans International Airport after our lunch, as Louis Armstrong International Airport was named then, to pick up his daughter. Yep, the best thing about the Sun Belt was easy way to collect a pay check. Then came the bowl folly, failure to make ULM go by UL MoanRow but making us use the name. By the way neither school is supposed to use the triple letters ULM or ULL , and that goes for LSU, but both ignore that law but we it seems cannot.

I was in two meetings with Waters back in 2006 and was not that impressed. He did not seem to have the drive that I had seen in other commissioners. Maybe it was me but there seemed to be something missing. I remember more a couple of his underlings for their work.
