I'm sure Whit has been working on that and on the conference thing non-stop.
Sure, but that list is now about 3 names shorter. Purdue, NC State and others have picked over the good names. If anything, this #ButchJonesCluster cost us one week of time.
Heard Whit started with a list of top 5 candidates and 2 have been taken already.
That's not good if true. So at least 2 of his Top 5 guys were MAC guys. Good grief. Wouldn't be surprised if the other 3 were the coaches at Ball State, Toledo and Bowling Green. What a joke.
Doesn't he read this board, or talk to the boosters?
Somebody had better call him and tell him to check out Bearcat Banner pronto for some ideas!

The relative silence coming out of Clifton all week since Butch watch has started. I'm not so negative to think he can't make a good hire, but I'm definitely on the nervous side of the fence. Face it, Whit hasn't made a big decision yet, so here we go.
Yeah, but there wasn't much he could really do other than work to keep the guy and that doesn't need to be in the public. Up to now, I have heard nothing but praise about his performance so it has me scratching my head. I am nervous, but I would believe he could have already started this list and may have put out feelers to coaches.
But you certainly can't fire Butch for window shopping, what kind of message would that send.
I am sure that they got everything they could do to Butch, but once you hit your limits, its up to that coach. If he keeps interviewing the coach probably doesn't want to be there. At that point, let him run his course and find "your own guy". Remember, Whit didn't pick Jones, so he may not have the same allegiance to him and may feel he has another direction he wants his coach going.

I think it was either going to be Colorado or Tennessee. He was out of here no matter what.

Or even his "safety school," Purdue.

If you look at Butchs resume, he's hasn't been anywhere for more than 3 years. That's just the way he operates. He probably felt he accomplished all he could here and was determined to move on to keep polishing his CV. Wouldn't surprise me at all that if he's successful at UT, he'll be looking to go to an even bigger program or the NFL in 3-4 years.
