RE: Malzahn
Malzahn is ahead of petrino on aub's wishlist.

Some prominent boosters not sold on him(petrino).

Petrino also may wind up at USM.

Malzahn is a fans pick..doesn't mean he is the committees pick!

I also think that Bo pelini and Chad Morris being added to the search means something!

Why would anyone hire Pelini after the crap he put out for the Big 10 title game?

All I know is all morning Auburn sites were blowing up with he is the leading candidate, and now they are acting like Kirby Smart is going to get the job. We'll hopefully know more soon.

Arkansas isnt interested...Auburn is our only worry.

It will take more than 3 million dollars to get a high quality coach to take that job. They have put themselves in NCAA Hell.

There is absolutely no indication whatsoever that Malzahn is planning on leaving ASU anytime soon. Even the posters on the Den, the most paranoid group on the internet, don't think Malzahn is going anywhere.

Down to Smart and Gus as far as who the AU admin wants and Smart turned down an offer per twitter (lol).

AU will offer Gus some amount one last time before finding another 5-19 coach to fill a void.

That committee at Auburn has a real good track record.

Wonder if stAte's administration don't mind if he's gone, to pay for that big ol' contract you guys signed him to, or was it an MOU?

That sucks for stAte if true. He could have kept them as a perennial Gang of 5 power. Will be hard to go three straight home run hires in a row. I still don't understand why Tennessee didn't at least put him on the short list.

Tennessee can't sell another small conference guy to its fan base. They'll burn down Neyland.

You have no idea of the derps in Knoxville. They've got guys on the radio saying crap like they'll never attend another Vols game if they don't hire Gruden or they can't understand why they're interviewing Larry Fedora and Charlie Strong when they can go get Tommy Tuberville or bring back Fulmer.

It was Gruden or fail for them anyway, so they might as well get someone who can win there. Malzahn possesses quite a bit more credibility than Dooley did. That hire, while uncomprehnsible, was just indicative of the Hamilton era. Kind of hard to compare those two regardless of what the base thinks.

I agree with you 100%. Malzahn would have been on my shortlist if I was Tennessee.

Just saying that the average TN fan is too stupid to realize that the guy is a heck of a coach. To them, anyone from a "smaller" conference is another Derek Dooley.

Sorry to hear about Malzahn, I thought he wanted out of the fast lane and to build up a program. A rare coach who wanted to sink roots and become part of the community. It really sucks how commercial college football has become.....04-drinky

Looks like Ark State will be staying in the Sun Belt. Malzahn made them just sexy enough to possibly get a CUSA bid. Given the market size and athletic budget, it seems less likely CUSA will come calling. The silver lining is that if they stay, the SB will only improve as a league as App State, Ga Southern, Tx State, Ga State will be better on the field than FAU, FIU, MTSU, NT.

I feel bad for Arkansas State. I thought he was going to stick around for at least a couple more years. He certainly did a great job in his short time.

It certainly makes us less attractive. I think we will still try and package ourselves out to the Mountain West, but I cant say for sure.

Arkansas is a southern state. Once people get over the disappointment of feeling like they are getting left behind, hopefully they will come to their senses and realize that the losses really aren't that bad and the teams replacing them can be much better very quickly. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and Ark State, ULL and WKU will stay in the belt.

Every President and Chancellor in this league has been on the phone this week to other conferences weighing their options. So obviously a lot of people look at it as being that bad.
