Aruba's is kind of right up the street from my church and the family home in Lauderdale by the Sea. It's always packed and the last couple of visits the food was just ok. Plenty of places to eat and drink within a few blocks of Aruba's if it's too crowded but is a good place right on the beach to grab a drink and grab a quick dolphin sandwich or burger-not cheap. I would meter park instead of valeting. Worst thing you can do is get ticket for parking without paying the meter or
get nailed by one of those turn signal cameras which are all over the place in S Fl. Got to say there are alot of Happy Hours and Nightly food specials at different places, Places like Flanagan's and Bru's Rooms are especialy good at this. Due diligence can save you alot of $$$. Watch the parking- I was at the Beach Place Garage(Ft Liquordale) and after 3 hours - parking went from about $10 to a full day's rate of $25. The extra 20 minutes I spent cost me about an extra $15.

The refuse and parking are probably controlled by the same business network.

RE: Huskie Hotels
Could someone make a suggestion or two for me:

I'll be driving down from Jacksonsville on New Year's Day (I'm spending three days with cousins in J'ville). I'll probably spend 1/1 thru 1/3 in the Miami area before driving back to the airport.

Maybe a reasonably priced place north of Miami, say in Fort Lauderdale or wherever which is convenient to the stadium.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Hope you got my email and it helped. E. Ft Lauderdale is big $$$'s this time of year. I noticed on the Hotels.com website there were a number of business type hotels out west near Saw Grass Mills Mall about 15 minutes from the Stadium that were in the $103-135 range.
Also up here in Boca there rooms at the Bridge Hotel($135) and the Hilton Garden Inn($119) near really nice Beaches. The Bridge is a favorite lunch or breakfast spot right at the bridge @ the Boca Inlet. Boca is about 35-40 minutes to the Stadium. The prices were off Hotels.com.

any suggestions on transportation to and from the game?

Sun Life Stadium is easy to get in and out of-Exit 2X Florida Turnpike.
Parking is not cheap, but easy. Plus your Turnpike cost. There are prepaid Turnpike passes availible at reststops and places like Publix if you don't want to sit at Toll Booths. Some of the hotels, Sport Bars, Strip Clubs will run transportation.Tri-rail will probably run like they do for the Super Bowl.I would definitely try to carpool with some heavy duty tailgating. For fun, there are some nice casinos in the area-Hard Rock, Isle Casino, etc. I know there are a number events, concerts,etc-some are free. Of course trips to South Beach or the Upper Keys are doable.
An afternoon of rumrunners/Red Stripes at Islemorada or the Clevelander is a unique experience. Plenty to do here- some is low cost or you can blow alot of $$$.

Casinos? A little more fun...

Yeah, some fun clubs and some great buffets at the different ones.
I know when I signed up for the Players' Club@ the Hard Rock, they had something like $50 free play money and a $25 food voucher.

I am staying at Hollywood Beach 4 nights 24$ a night and 10$ hotel tax for all inclusive of 106% for 30th, 31st, 1st, and 2nd. But need ride to sun life and back. Since I am a runner I thought of just jogging back 10.9 miles if I can make it there, but dont know the neighborhood. Dont really wish to do the 22 mile run round trip. Perhaps I can hitch a lift with one of you huskie fans? I think the Broward transit buses take you within a third of a mile of the stadium but not sure they are running late at night when game is over. The best to you and merry christmas. Dave
