I have no clue why they're bothering meeting. We all know what the conference is going to do...

"We recommend WKU"

And the Bowl can do what is going they want.

I don't understand the point in all of this.

the Point is to publicly punish MTSU for breaking the gentleman's agreement to not leave for another conference.

I, & many other stAte fans cannot go to Mobile bc of the date. Many won't go bc we went there last year & you're correct, many won't go bc we don't want to go to Mobile this year & they're forcing us to do so.

Basically, we are being punished bc we traveled to Mobile so well last season.

I said the same thing but reading between the lines you would have to think the SBC and LCB had a talk and worked it out this way.

If not this vote is just stupid

Those fans are idiots. You're basically going onto the Go Daddy fb page and saying..."your bowl sucks..lets us go to a real bowl".

You know, there could come a time when the Go Daddy Bowl might make the difference between you bowling or not.

Besides with ULL and ULM being favored by the New Orleans bowl, if ASU doesn't win the conference, they're basically looking at the Go Daddy Bowl or taking their chances on a bowl bid that another conference can't fill. This is extremely foolish. That bowl is your safety net. You really don't want to p'ss them off.

LA Tech will sweep the rug out from under Benson and take the Pizza bid while he's trying to piss off the MT administration on this call.

We know its foolish, but ASU is an extremely angry fanbase right now, that has gotten worse since MTSU left for CUSA. We are looking for someone to blame for this mess, and besides Karl Benson, the Go Daddy bowl is an easy target.

Why should the Go Daddy Bowl get last pick? Whats in it for them? I understand your disappointment, but think of their position. If you think that just because the Go Daddy Bowl is in Mobile, that they'll take whatever the Belt does, you're delusional. The Board of that Bowl aren't connected to the Belt or USA.

This kind of BS will hurt the Belt's ability to get another Bowl tie in.

Also, will departing members be able to vote? What about incoming members?

MT also avoided ULL and played USA with unbalanced scheduling

True and MT went 2-1 against it's last 3 conference mates, other than WKU, and WKU went 3-0 against those 3. When you look at it that way, it does make it look a bit different.

Whichever way this turns out, and I'm sure it'll be primarily political, I see no possible way that anyone can say that MT hasn't earned it on the field over WKU.

Team A beat Team B.

Team A finished 6-2 in conference, Team B 4-4

Team A finished with a better overall record.

Even if you try and claim that unbalanced scheduling played a role, Team A finished 2 games ahead of Team B in the standings.

Team A finished 2nd in conference. Team B - 5th.

In what world has Team B earned anything over Team A?

The last time a school turned down a bid from the Go Daddy Bowl, then known as GMAC, the bowl terminated its relationship with that school's conference. In that instance it was TCU and CUSA.

A trade I can see. Turning the bowl down for no other reason is insane. Think Middle's fans mind going to Mobile right now?

I don't recall anyone saying Team B earned it more than Team A. As you state and as we've all learned, these Bowl selections have far less to do with "earning" than with politics and money.

Look at it from our perspective.

1. The bowl that is supposed to be our top choice can take whoever they want
2. The 2md choice can then hold the champion hostage when a better bowl comes open and wants us.

We are not happy with the SBC in general right now. Not much we can do about it, but we potentially might only see the MAC's 3rd place team in Mobile, when we could easily see the CUSA Champion in Memphis

Totally agree that it's political and money driven. No biggie. I ain't making it to any bowl the day after Christmas anyway.

That said, there were folks trying to reason that MT should have just won it's last game, or that WKU somehow played a tougher schedule, and this and that and whatever.

If WKU gets the Pizza bowl, because they got screwed last year (they did), or they will probably bring more fans to their first every bowl (probably), and/or people are pissed that MT is leaving the conference (very possible), I'm ok with all that.

But don't try and tell me that somehow WKU is more deserving based on the on-field results.

Actually the contract that the SBC signed between the Belt and the Go Daddy Bowl says that the Go Daddy gets the conference champion every other year. Last year's conference champion did not play in the Go Daddy Bowl. This year's champion is Arkansas State.

I know you'd rather play in Memphis. But breaking the deal with one of the only two bowl slots we have (and it isn't a bowl created by the Belt either - they are completely independent) is foolish.
yea....we did.

I understand your frustration. But its not like you guys don't know the rules beforehand.

The way it works is this. The Champion is the only team guaranteed a bid. BUT, the bowls get first or second PICK. Meaning that you guys are guaranteed a bowl slot but the bowls get to choose who they want within certain paramenters.
