I'm glad Murry is looking forward to being one of the taller midgets in the ASUN come Jan 5th; However, I feel that this year we aren't even on that level. We are middle of the pack at best, only because NKU, Kennesaw, Stetson, etc are so so so bad...

Is he smoking what Sheldon/Marcus were selling? Hell he's struggled to beat Stetson at home when we've had talent, we won't finish last or next to last because NKU and Kennesaw are actually worse than we are but good lord...
If this team made the NCAA's then the NCAA should immediately go back to a 54 team tournament and the A-Sun lose its' autobid.

I post this because it sounds just a little reminiscent of what we're going thru now. Just a little. Switch out the guards issues back then with the post player issues now. Also of note is apparently how crass and self-serving bartow came across in the post-game interview. Not shocking - but some of us seem to have forgotten how he was in those kinds of situations.

From the JC Press, 12-6-2012:

James Madison routs short-handed Bucs

By Joe Avento

Harrisonburg, VA. --- The struggles continued for the East Tennessee State Basketball team.
The short-handed Bucs fell behind early and never recovered as James Madison rolled to a 70-45 victory Wednesday night at the JMU Convocation Center.
With point guard Petey McClain on the bench with an ankle injury, the Bucs had trouble getting into their offense. Simply getting the ball up the court became a difficult task as James Madison scored 25 points off 18 ETSU turnovers.
The Dukes (3-5) had 15 steals.
Rashawn Rembert and Yunio Barruetta started in the backcourt and neither are point guards, but they were forced to handle the ball with McClain out.
"We're telling them to bring the ball up against their press," ETSU coach Murry Bartow said. "We had no other choice. We're putting them in a position to fail, a very awkward unfamiliar position. We had no other way to go.
"And they were like sharks. They saw that and smelled it and came at us very aggressively. We just have to handle it better."
Rembert got most of the work at the point and committed seven turnovers to go along with 12 points.
Lester Wilson led ETSU (2-4) with 21 points, 15 of which came in the last nine minutes.
"He's off to a good start and he's gonna get a lot better," Bartow said. "And he hasn't even scratched the surface yet."
ETSU, hammered by injuries and the dismissal of its two starting guards, dressed eight players, seven on scholarship.
"Our team is banged up but I thought we would play better than we played," Bartow said. "The mid-major level, you can't sur- [That's all I gots.]

[This ETSU team finished 10-22, losing to Stetson by 21 in the first round of the ASun tournament. Wilson was a freshman; Dusbose (kicked off), Cooley (kicked off), and Jarvis Jones were the only seniors. They rebounded to go 19-16 the following year, with the talent injections of Riley and Merriweather, along with the rise of Rembert.]

In other news on that date..............Georgia Southern and Wofford had both advanced to the quarterfinals of the I-AA playoffs. And the Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons were both 11-1 in the NFL.

Really only a bit over 9 years. But the point wasn't bartow (really, it wasn't; the bartow stuff was an add-on that just barely "made the cut"); it was the parallels of that team's struggles to this team's.
And what are you doing reading my posts? If you're reading them, don't continually say you're not.
