They are pushing for Dallas.

Their fans are saying that "playing a 3rd place Belch team like Northeast isnt a reward for the players." They say its a calculated risk that they agree with

If Dallas doesnt work, they are convinced they would go to Memphis because no bowl would obviously choose an SBC team with a better record, better attendance, and frankly a better team over them.

If they hadn't crapped the bed in their final two games they would be celebrating their best season ever and might be headed to the orange bowl...
Tech lost in O/T to Utah St and by a TD to SJSU. Both currently occupy the BCS Top 25, as did Tech before we lost. Since no Sun Belt team has ever been on that list, you guys may not know what that is so I'll explain it to you. The BCS Top 25 is a list of the top 25 teams in the country. It is also a list that no Sun Belt team has ever occupied, and most likely never will.

Auburn was in the top 25 to start the year. Arkansas was in the top 10. Fooling the voters for a week or two like La Tech did (and SJSU is doing now) is meaningless. About as meaningless as wins over Illinois and Virginia.

MTSU could be left out by a combination of fate, La Tech refusing to play ULM, and CUSA brokering deals to avoid a Tulsa/ASU matchup.

I am aware of no deal that has legs that would avoid ASU/Tulsa

Granny can bet her booties that CUSA and Tulsa would rather not play the SunBelt champs.

La Tech hasn't refused to play ULM. They simply told the Independece Bowl they were waiting on all options. And that was BEFORE ulm was invited.

That being said, I doubt Tech would accept now that ULM has been invited.

Completely different scenario. Troy didn't get passed up by a team with a losing record that they beat by 3tds and a conference mate with a worse record that they beat head to head. This is embarrassing for the SBC if they let it happen especially if western has less than stellar ticket sales and/or get drubbed by a really good Kent St team. That will be a big topic for the announcers to fill space if it is a blow out.

You have to let the GT one go. Chalk that one up to pecking order.

Yep, the Go Daddy bowl will either have ASU, or will pick a non SBC team.

Guess we will see how bad the SBC wants to keep WKU. Gotta love the politics behind these bowl selections....

One other factor: with unbalanced SBC schedule MT got USA and avoided UL? WKU had to play the best of the Belt...

BTW, I don't remember a vote to see who got into Tampa Bowl last year. FIU got in because of geography with 4th place league finish. WKU is closer and has a sTrong alum base in Louisville which is much closer considering the game is the day after Christmas.

Let's be real, perhaps the SBC decides on WKU in hopes of appeasing them into staying, but it won't make a difference. There is no way WKU turns down a CUSA invite.

RE: Go Daddy Bowl
ASU's Liberty Bowl life will be on the line in about 30 minutes when the BCS standings come out. They are saying that the race between NIU and UCLA for 16th will come down to a mere 0.05 points or less.

If NIU makes the BCS, a Big 12 team is open for the Liberty Bowl to take, and we get Mobile.

If NIU misses the BCS, its between us and La Tech, and we can draw double what Tech can. NIU will go to Mobile should they miss out on the BCS. I could likely see Mobile requesting Memphis take ASU, to avoid a rematch in consecutive seasons.

I was all for staying in the SBC, but the fact that we are having this dumb a$$ conversation about an 8-4 team potentially being left out of a bowl game makes me reconsider my negative thoughts about leaving this POS conference. I have nothing against the teams, but the leadership of this conference is piss poor!

I believe a CUSA deal is what may screw you.

I'm not to concern about the CUSA deal. I firmly believe CUSA has a fiduciary duty to do what's in the best interest of their current teams. I wish the SBC would do the same. It was a travesty when WKU got left out last year, and it's a shame this is going to happen again to a team in this league.

No you can thank just Tech. Had NO Bowl taken the champion (stAte), Mobile would have taken us in a split second. They decided to take us and we accepted.

And MT can thank themselves by blowing their opportunity yesterday. If they had actually made the trip to Jonesboro and played stAte, they may have had a chance to win the Sun Belt championship. They put themselves in this situation by not taking care of business on the field.

I said this on the Cajuns forum, but lets look at the vote, my guess is that the vote will split with UNT/FIU/FAU voting for MT, Troy/ULM/USA voting for WKU by sticking to conference alignments. I think the breakers will go with stAte and UL, both of these schools have talked about CUSA now with the recent movements and aren't happy about the future of the SBC. They may want to preserve a relationship with a team already guaranteed CUSA entry in order for a possible up vote for them later, or they may stick it to them by staying by the conference. It'll be interesting.

If you are looking people to thank, here you go.

1. Thank yourselves for failing to show up yesterday in Jonesboro.
2. Thank La Neck for refusing to play Tech.
3. Thank CUSA for working hard to make Sure tech gets in a good bowl, but not spending a second to give you the same consideration.
