And in the 3-4, the Blitz is easier to disguise.

In the 3-4, normally someone is always "Blitzing", just not the same four people.

We have a hard enough time getting tackles big enough to play in a 4-3. Maybe Roscoe Byrd could develop into that guy for us (?).

I think guys like Diaheem Watkins and Chris Walton could excel in the OLB/rush end role of a 3-4 though.

I can't give details yet (because it hasn't been finalized), but we could be getting just this type of player soon. Our staff is working on what you are asking for. Regardless, I think Byrd, Morris, and company can do the job too. We just need to find them some more DL help.

I think our DE commit would be perfect for OLB 6-5 225 Kalvin Robinson with Shaq Roberson on the other side 6-4 230.

Well, it all sounds good, but call me when it works. We have more than one 3-4 team in the conference, and they still get eaten alive by the spread. We also had UCF who uses the 4-3, and they shutdown those same offenses almost every week.

This guy is beginning to sound more and more like our loser coaches of the past. The answer to our defensive problem is to bring in an experienced proven DC to train his buddy from Arkansas. Much like what MTSU did with TYRONE NIX. MTSU'S 1 year turn around with Nix from 2-10 to 8-3 and playing for the Sunbelt Championship. How about giving this f***in guy a call coach. Otherwise, after next year your days will be numbered.

Its not necessarily our defensive coordinator's fault. He coaches the defense, but also our defensive players suck. Burdette made all the tackles, due to the fact he had to clean up everyone else's missed tackles.

There were times this year when I counted 9 freshmen on the field on D.

It explains a lot about what coach thinks about the players who are upperclassmen or returned this year for him to play so many freshmen. Good thing is at least now they have a year under their belt. Players and coaches.

This is beginning to sound like a repeat record. I heard this same crap under Watson Brown, Neil Calloway and Now this Joker. We're young, we're inexperienced, we're this, we're that. It all sounds like loser talk to me. It doesn't matter what kind of cards a winner is dealt. He's still gonna win. No more F***in excuses please.

If we're 3-9 in year three I'll entertain this nonsense.

If a "winner" is holding a 2,3,4,7,8 at the end of a hand, he's gonna have a hard time winning if even one other player is holding a 9. To modify the analogy a wee bit, a winner would be dealt that hand and work on turning it into something that had a chance. Unlike poker, we can work on converting our low cards into face cards, we can try talking other players' cards into joining our hand, and we can change the way we apply our cards. I don't think McGee is spouting "loser" or "BoT" talk...I believe he has seen the current trends among strong defenses in the nation and knows which way to take the program. There was a great article I read the other day that said it basically doesn't matter who wins the national championship game, the winner is the 3-4 defense. Both SEC teams run it, but I'm not sure about ND. Either way, these are teams that don't easily get clobbered by non-AQ teams running the spread.

Just sayin' 05-stirthepot

+1

I am philosophically a 4-3 man, but I'm a bigger fan of whatever works.

I think coach knows what he's doing.

Already looking forward to next year. Too bad it's so far off...

I worked for a guy once and a delivery I was on took quite some time. He asked what took so long. I told him it was a third floor furniture delivery (stairs) a living room set and bunk beds, I was by myself and I had to put the bunk beds together. His response was "I DONT WANT TO HEAR EXCUSES!"

This guy reminds me of an old anti drunk driving shirt. On the front it said "See Dick. See Dick drink. See Dick get drunk. See Dick drive"

On the back it said "Don't be a Dick."

There's a message in there somewhere.

Well my problem is this, do you mean to tell me that the coaches didn't know what kind of offenses they'd be playing against here in CUSA? And it took until the Marshall game to adjust?

I don't have a problem with switching, that his call, but I don't get the explanation.

And +1 to the post about others who use the 3-4 and lose and the ones who use 4-3 and win.

I don't think they did what they said they were going to on defense anyway. Chalk that up to personnel or whatever but I never saw an "attacking" defense. When we did we jumped offsides. So, we'll see I guess.
