Sun Belt Wish List
OK Sun Belt fans.......if we want to get all 5 teams in a bowl game, we need the following to happen.

1. Kent State (11-1) vs. Northern Illinois (11-1) - Detroit, MI, Friday-6pm central (ESPN2)

This is the MAC Championship Game. Kent State's only loss was to Kentucky by 33 points on 9/8 and Northern Illinois only loss was to Iowa by 1 point on 9/1

SBC wants Northern Illinois to win (Keeps Kent State out of a BCS Bowl)

2. Cincinnati (8-3) at Connecticut (5-6), Saturday-2:30pm central(ABC Reg / ESPN GP)

SBC wants Cincinnati to win (Keeps Connecticut from being Bowl Eligible)

3. Pitt (5-6) at South Florida (3-8), Saturday-6pm central (ESPN2)

SBC wants South Florida to win (Keeps Pitt from being Bowl Eligible)

This is the same Pitt team that lost to Youngstown State(7-4 FCS) by two touchdowns in week 1 and then later took Notre Dame to 3OT in South Bend...and people wonder why many are already forecasting another SEC national champion regardless of who wins in Atlanta tomorrow.

Yeah, it's hard to tell which Pitt team will show up. For the good of the Belt I hope everything works out.

EASY EASY...remember MTSU started the season off with an L to McNeese...teams can have a bad game and still be considered pretty good.

I understand that and I understand that I'm talking about a chain of several games, but I just do not see the SEC champion losing to a team that nearly lost to a team that lost to Youngstown State.

Notre Dame beat Pitt, Purdue and BYU by a combined 9 pojnts, all three at home. I give them credit for an impressive win in Norman. I give them credit for a great defense and a great coach, but I do not see them hoisting a crystal football this year.

RE: Sun Belt Wish List
Georgia Tech will get bowl-eligibility waiver from the NCAA, an eligible team will get squeezed out

By Frank Schwab | Dr. Saturday – 19 hours ago

(US Presswire) Not surprisingly, the NCAA ruled for the big conference team that needed a break when it said it will grant Georgia Tech a waiver to be bowl eligible at 6-7, if the Yellow Jackets lose Saturday's ACC Championship Game to Florida State. That was reported by CBS and ESPN.

Because of that decision, some bowl eligible team is going to get left at home.

There were already 70 bowl eligible teams for 70 spots before Georgia Tech's waiver. UConn and Pitt can both get bowl eligible with wins on Saturday. Add in Georgia Tech, which successfully argued that it would have been eligible had it not gotten into the ACC title game after Miami and North Carolina were ineligible, and we could see three eligible teams left home. The Yellow Jackets' waiver means at least one will (and for those bowl projections, put Georgia Tech in the Music City Bowl replacing Middle Tennessee).

Central Michigan, which is 6-6, is the most likely team to get left home. Looking at the other teams that might be in danger, we have to take a look at the smaller conferences - because this isn't going to affect the big boys.

Conference USA has already made contingency plans for all five of its bowl-eligible teams, so there shouldn't be any worry for 6-6 Rice or 6-6 SMU. The Mountain West will also get all five of its eligible teams in bowls due to its tie-ins. That leaves the MAC, WAC and Sun Belt. There are 15 bowl-eligible teams in those conferences, including Central Michigan, and some of them have to be pretty nervous.

After Central Michigan, Western Kentucky has the worst record among those teams, at 7-5. Louisiana-Monroe, Bowling Green and Ohio are next on the bubble, at 8-4. The loser of the Arkansas State-Middle Tennessee game will also be 8-4. Louisiana-Lafayette is 7-4 but has already accepted an invitation to the New Orleans Bowl.

Since all the bowl-eligible teams from big conferences will get slotted into the conference's bowl tie-ins, it's almost a certainty that between one and three eligible teams from the MAC, WAC or Sun Belt are going to stay home. The players from those teams who were excited to represent their school in a rare bowl opportunity will have their hearts ripped out, so a 6-7 Georgia Tech team can play in a bowl this December.

WKU and ULM would be the two programs in most danger of getting left out. None of the other two are in any danger,

Teams improve over the season and some fall off. Pitt has improved. ND has improved, and Pitt caught them off-guard. I wouldn't be surprised to see ND beat UGA or UA but whatever happens - happens.

I want Kent State to bust the BCS. We dont really compete with them and it opens another bowl slot. I don't feel threatened if the MAC succeeds.

So is there no chance NIU slips into a BCS game if they win? They are 4 spots behind Kent St in the polls and have the same record.

If it's ND vs. Georgia, I think the Irish have a legit chance (~40-50%) but I'd give the Dawgs a small edge.

If it's Alabama, I'd put the line at 13 or 14 pts and an all-out beat-down wouldn't surprise me. Bama had one lousy game in them and they used it on TX A&M. I don't think ND can hang with them for more than 30 min

ULM 100% needs Kent St. to lose or could be kept out of Bowl.

Think ASU and MTSU know where they will go if they win, and where they will go if they lose, but are going somewhere either way.

It's because of where teams fall if Kent win and get a BCS bid. Personally, I think NIU also has the chance to slip into the top 17 with a win being 12-1 and the latest win coming over a top 20 opponent. For any hope for ULM in Independance they need NIU, but that alone won't kill the chances, I think CMU will be left out as of right now, 1 more team gets eligible and one of WKU or ULM get left, if both get eligible, well, that's a dooms day scenario for SBC.

Wow, I don't really want Kent to win for the reasons for the belt, but holy crap...14 points in like 15 seconds of game time. Wow.

I'll say now, I don't need to see the others, this was the best Conference championship game of the season.
