You don't think Reaves solidified himself as the number one back?

I do. If 1000yds doesn't do that with the line we had, What does?

Bashir also came on strong. The competition will make both better and unlike QB's, We can play both!03-cloud9

Irvin and Burdette were excellent, and they played A LOT.

Other guys will step up. Shaq Jones is going to be a player. Bastien has been solid. We probably need to add another guy, maybe even a JUCO LB. Slaughter could be a key LB, and maybe Wills, Pettaway, and Challenger will show us something.

With as much pounding as a running back takes, you really need several capable back.

RE: Returning Starters for Next Year
Did we have issues at the LB spot earlier in the year, depth wise?

There is a player that I won't mention, that hasn't played much, yet it appears while he was in at LB he was decent. I saw him get into a game or two.

Just wondering if there is any potential for him to play more next year.

He is entering his upper class years of eligibility.

RE: Returning Starters for Next Year
i think it would be beneficial to go Juco for a couple of OL/DL and maybe a LB. I don't want to sign 13 or 14 like Callaway but wouldn't mind seeing 3-4 to help with depth.

I think Trey Grissett should be moved to LB. I think he could flourish there.

I thought he played well when he got in.

I love this guy's attitude and will to succeed. He, like Sam, is a shining example of the kind of BLAZER we can all be proud of. I hope he is there when spring rolls around and will again be healthy enough to show that he belongs on the field.

I think Slaughter will transition well to one of our top linebackers. On the OL I've heard one of the freshman that didn't play this year, Unique Crumbley (sp?), will be a good one.

Unique has great size and athleticism but lacks some of the polish necessary to be a great starter for us. However, he may make a solid contribution if given the chance next year.

I think you're referring to the two freshmen from Grissom. I have been told that theyre both progressing very nicely and that one or both could play for us next year. Victor is a tackle and the other one is a guard...both have very nice size. I'd say look out for Victor as one of our starting tackles next year.

On an entirely different note, I think we should quit wasting Greg Franklin's talent and move him to the other side of the ball. FRANKLIN WOULD MAKE ONE HELLUVA A DB!!! Thoughts?

I don't know how much (if any) PT Brandon Fuller might get as a freshman linebacker, but you guys are really going to like this kid.

Not really I still think Franklin is a better back, and offensive weapon. I think Reaves just was the best option with the line we had this year. Coles was impressive in spring and fall camp that he shouldve got more carries but there is the security issue. We can pound the rock with Reaves,Coles and hit em with Franklin when their D is gased.

I happen to believe Reaves is rock solid #1 right now at RB.

That doesn't mean the others won't have an opportunity though for some quality playing time.

I agree with Smaug. And, Franklin has to get outta McGee's doghouse first.

Who was the starter from spring ball? I know Reaves was hurt then. Who was the starter from fall camp. Who started just about the first three games. I was one of the first to call for Reaves to start ,but that was due to the Oline. Reaves can get a extra yard or two falling forward that Franklin couldn't. If the line was better and getting to the second level cleanly Franklin burst and vision would show and he could break some long runs or resemble the Franklin/Reaves backfield from Callaway's last season.
