Coaching Changes
Rumor is on GTT.com is that our DC has been relieved of his duties as DC and that Rowell will not be fired but reassigned to another position and that the search has ALREADY begun on finding a New DC at TROY.

Would you consider that as a credible source? Or just wishful thinking, at this point?

RE: Coaching Changes
No disrespect to Paul of Troy(your feelings are already clear on the matter) but how does the rest of the Trojan nation feel about Blakeney? How much equity does he have built up? Would he/should he survive a third consecutive losing season.

RE: Coaching Changes
Legendary coaches often end up staying beyond what they should. Not saying that point has been reached for Troy, but it is often true.

90% of Trojans dont want Blakeney fired or made to retire yet.

22 years of Winning hold that to be true.

Note: IF CHANGES ARE NOT MADE AT ALL THIS OFF SEASON AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT MINOR CHANGES THEN IM WITH PAUL OF TROY AND BLAKENEY NEEDS TO RETIRE OR BE MADE TO RETIRE...

Personally, I believe he won't get that option. Age notwithstanding, and new AD, it's hard to tell. Losing at home and 2 consecutive losing seasons has rumors flying, but we'll have to wait and see...Paul will get his wish sooner or later...

RE: Coaching Changes
My opinion is that Blakeney is still a good head coach for Troy. He just needs to grow a pair and fire the DC already. I can't imagine how different Troy's season would look if we actually had a good DC, because Troy certainly doesn't lack talent on that side. The talent isn't being coached up...

I'm just worried that if Blakeney leaves, would Troy end up like USM??? A no-name coach with a winless season.

Theres always that risk...But I have faith things will be corrected this off season. and when LB does leave I think we will have someone in place thats the right person for the job.

FYI. TROY has money, dont let the people fool you. We will and will have to shell out nearly 1million for our next HC.

Your athletic budget being roughly half that of the top of the conference would suggest otherwise.

Budgets can change....If you look at the Troy system there is construction projects everywhere. Even on the main campus pretty much every building is new or has been renovated within the last 10 years. Even now theres tons of construction going on including the new Practice Football Facilities and the Basketball Arena that just opened this year.

Our HC is payed roughly 375k a year. which is near the bottom of the conference in HC salary. Its not because thats all we can afford its because Larry doesnt as for anything higher. Hes not going anywhere.

RE: Coaching Changes
Who you can get can change a budget over-night.

Freeze got about $250k because he was a Sun Belt offensive coordinator when he was hired. Before he left he had an offer of around $450k on the table and we had to work hard to get that raised. Malzahn says he's interested and suddenly boosters find another $400k a year they are willing to part with.
