Metro Conference
I propose a new conference. Forget the Big East, forget the Big 12, BIG, ACC and focus on a new Metro. We all know much of what is driving the new conferences is TV markets. These schools must also have viable football division one programs. Anyone with additional schools I may have forgotten, please feel free to add to the list. Take note, the numbers next to the city is the current TV market ranking. Also, note that Dayton, Ohio and Cincinnati could be combined as one TV market. That would combine 34 with 64 for a much larger, higher ranking. A metro that includes ONLY teams from metro areas such as:
Cincinnati #34
Louisville #50
Temple#4
Houston#10
Toledo #73
San Diego State #28
Fresno State #55
Memphis #48
Tulane #53
Tulsa #61
South Florida #13
UNLV

RE: Metro Conference
Sorry that name was already taken. It's the forerunner of Conference USA. It included Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Carolina, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Virginia Commonwealth, and Virginia Tech in basketball during the 1980's.

Thanks. I kinda think that was my point. In addition, some of those teams like VCU and Saint Louis did not have football teams. The NEW Metro as I propose would include only metro teams with division one football teams. Villanova would also get consideration if they were bumped up.

RE: Metro Conference
The Old Metro Conference never sponsored football as a varsity sport.

RE: Metro Conference
You should be happy that The Big East didn't raid your conference for teams yet.

RE: Metro Conference
I wouldn't mind bringing back the Metro Conference if Louisville hadn't left for the ACC. It would have been easier if UConn was picked to go there instead of them.
