I would have no problem with this, if it were an option.

Makes zero sense for Penn State to leave after just getting two eastern schools to call conference mates.

Even with the penalties, PSU still makes more than most teams. PSU football is a cash cow. That's why state looked the other way.

Penn State without TV money? Didn't they also sign one of those awesome, ironclad, unassailable "Grant of Rights" like the Big 12?

Because of the sanctions Penn State will get paid like a Sun Belt school this season and for a few more. However, I think Terry is correct - the Big Ten does have some sort of G.o.R.

Take the $50m and use it for startup costs for the ACC Network. (PAC 12 network had estimated %50m to $100m in startup costs) The ACC will continue to bleed teams until they start maximizing their earnings.
