Louisville does bring great sports, but I just don't know about the institutional profile, lambast me if you wish.

Just what a conference struggling to improve it's football image needs, a private school with no fanbase, no viable stadium option......and oh yeah, they would have to upgrade from FCS, and they have been far from dominant in the CAA.

Did you just skim the part where I said viable stadium? They fit all the criteria except sports, so no.

I don't like Louisville's academics ... and if we're going to sell out academics West Virginia is better than Louisville with better location.

Academics isn't going to keep this conference alive. Louisville really fills both "needs". Football is the best available and they have one of the best hoop programs. Yeah, their academics need work, but really, after adding Pitt, Syracuse, and ND, you can take a small hit to add a great sports institution.

Louisville is the only realistic choice. UConn is a far distant 2nd. I don't think Navy is much of an option.

Louisville is only about 100 miles further than WVU. And Louisville is a MUCH BETTER destination.

I'd cast my vote for Louisville easily. To me, there are few options that are even reasonably comparable.

CINCINNATI

Pros

1. On the brink of AAU.
2. Highly ranked medical, engineering, DAAP, Criminal Justice, programs. I could go on, but am not going to at this time.
3. In the hotbed of Ohio recruiting.
4. Winning Football and Basketball

Cons.
1. The major facilities for athletics. Nippert needs major renovations, and does Shoemaker.

As an FSU alum, West Virginia is far and away the best realistic choice. Great football and basketball, good olympic sports program, huge fanbase, and at least three rivals.

I have a feeling that the ACC presidents will still make academics the priority in choosing an athletic member, and this will result in neither WVU nor Louisville getting an invite. My guess is it will be UConn for all-sports (14 FB, 15 BB) , or Navy for football only (14 FB, 14 BB).

If they go to 16 (with ND), the obvious choices are Louisville and UConn.

Add one now, and add one if/when ND decides to join as full member.

Louisville might not be available in 5 years. UConn definitely will. Take Louisville.

Louisville.

Clearly the best choice.

I'm sorry but Villanova is a nonstarter with me. Right now this is 100% about sports. Screw Academics right now. This is about making the most $$$$$$$$$$$$ as a football conference. Thats where WVU or Louisville comes into play. And of right now, I doubt we can pull WVU from the Big XII.
I tend to agree. The ACC needs to stop the bleeding with Maryland. We need to make an addition that would be compelling enough to convince everyone in the conference, including FSU, Clemson and Va Tech, to sign a GOR. Not sure that Louisville is sufficient, but they are absolutely the best play on the board. The ACC needs to look past the traditional academic limitations that it imposes on membership.

We ain't signing sh*t.

If they choose UCONN then it is clear that football is not important to this conference...

And now we can truly understand Catdaddy and the FSU fans frustrations.

If this ends up being true then I would... I would like to hold out hope that they make the right decision and pull Louisville.

If someone who's better at finding things on the internet then I, would find prove that the Big 12 has signed the 13 year GOR, not a reference where they agreed in principle. I've tried and only find where it was agreed to sign. If it wasn't go after Notre Dame's friend Texas, already had discussions with them.

RE: Poll for ACC fans - who should replace Maryland
My first choice is Notre Dame. I hope they understand that the ACC is at the bottom of the major conferences in revenue (B1G, Pac12, SEC, Big XII) and the margin figures to get larger.
If Notre Dame joins the ACC then the others will stay if not the B1G can get whoever they want in the ACC. The dollar values are that much greater than the ACC that $50 million exit fee is not going to stop a team like Syracuse or Virginia/VT from leaving. (Think NYC and DC cable TV spots for the B1G).
Why would FSU or Clemson stay around if the Big XII offers more money and it looks like other teams in the ACC are going to jump ship.
