If that said 750K knew City Hall was a goner regardless, a lot more would be in favor. Sadly, in 2012, a lot of people do not realize how big of a deal a Triple A franchise is.

If it's such a big deal, why was no other city interested and why did Tucson allow them to leave and replace them with soccer fields?

Go back to the many, many times we have discussed this.

I don't want to rehash all that old stuff. It's going to happen and I am going to enjoy going to the games.

Let's not over hype the importance of this team however. It's still only triple A baseball.

Albaquerque has triple A baseball and they are much smaller than we are.

This is for me only. I always wanted Triple A ball here. We are never going to get an NFL, MLB, or NBA team. It is just not financially possible. I don't want an NBA D-League team here as I don't want them to take ticket buyers away from UTEP. Same with USFL and UTEP Football. In my opinion only, MiLB is the only pro sport we can realistically have here. Triple A is the highest level of pro ball outside of the Majors. Scouts, managers, and reporters are going to be in and out of El Paso now. It is a big deal. It might not be a big deal to some (or many). It is to a lot of us though.

You guys act as if this vote proves that people wanted the stadium. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many people who voted in favor of the Prop simply do not want to be stuck with the bill.

every poll you posted on this board from the times ended in favor of the stadium, the poll you posted from kfox ended in favor of the stadium, the election was in favor of the stadium. Hell, I even played your game and linked a poll from the times that was 60% in favor of continuing the stadium if proposition 3 was voted down. Am I missing something here?

Fitbud, I've said it several times before, you're in the minority.

Baseball is probably the third or fourth most popular sport in El Paso. Football attracts around 20k per game.
Basketball around 8k per game.
Baseball 4k per game
Soccer 1k per game ( that is being generous)

We live in a metro area of over 1.5 million people.

If you think that 750,000 people are in favor of demolishing city hall to build a triple a baseball stadium then I have a government owned building to sell you.

here is something you might find interesting. Holguin doesn't even listen to his own people

The three quality of life bond issues drew wide support across the city of El Paso Tuesday, according to an analysis by El Pasoan Chris Villa.

Villa mapped the support for each of the bond issues by voting precincts. Issues 1 and 2 won in each precinct. Issue 3, which dealt with how to finance a new Downtown minor league baseball stadium, won in all but a handful of precincts in NORTHEAST El Paso.

I can totally respect that. For me, baseball comes after Football, Basketball, and Soccer. That said, I have fond memories of my parents taking me to Diablo games at Dudley Field. I have continued that tradition by taking my family to Diablo Games.

I will enjoy also taking my kids to the Triple A Dodgers ( Bullet Dodgers) I am not under the impression however that it will significantly change our economic fortunes in El Paso.
