RE: Weekly attendance thread(Week 9)
It is scary to think that ASU is leading the league in attendance right now. Our attendance still hasnt been up to the standards I expect. We're getting 20K to the games, but we can never seen to get those 25K+ crowds consistently.

We'll drop though...a Thursday Night game and a December home game left on the schedule...A couple 15K type crowds will bring us right back down to earth.

SIAP, but ULM vs. USA attendance was pretty poor for a team that has been ranked and with the possible SBC POY.

Did you see MT's last home game! They didn't have a few thousand people on a sunny Saturday afternoon? I was very confused about that one. I would normally say MT would bring 500-2000 but I would only expect 50-200 Thursday from what I've been seeing.

haha...

Yeah, these people look like they're dressed for a sunny Saturday afternoon...

And there were more than "a few thousand people there". There may not have ever been 14,000 in the stadium at the same time, but between late arriveres and early departers(cold day, 31-0 at the half) I'd say the 14,000 number wasn't far from accurate.

It was miserable weather but there is no way MT had anywhere close to 14k. Half of that would be a generous estimate of butts in seats.

MT manhandled NT but there were not many there to witness it.

RE: Weekly attendance thread(Week 9)
I'm hoping for a decent crowd Thursday night but not expecting it. Everybody I know is going but most the people I know are the hardcores! I would guess that 25% of our normal crowd drives an hour to get to a game and the temps are going to be around 40-45 at kickoff and into the 30's during the game. Add to that a 8:15 kickoff and even the locals don't get to bed until after midnight on a work night. I'm hoping that our students will be the saving grace! But anything above 8-9k I would consider a success. I absolutely hate that the most hated rivalry in the Sun Belt can't have a normal game for our fans (both schools)

ASU-ULL pulled a great crowd for a Tuesday, in fact the biggest crowd of the week and you guys at WKU-MT can't seem to get up for it. 05-stirthepot This is a big time game for the conference, the fans have to be educated that this is THE game that you need to go to.

Not trying to make preliminary excuses...wait, yes I am....but the ASU-UL game started at 7:00 pm local time. The WKU-MT game starts at 8:15pm. That's a huge difference for families and/or travelers. Then again, we might have a good crowd tomorrow but I'm definitely not putting money on it.

Let's also add that it was a short shelve weather game and not one close to freezing. Every team draws better early in the season because of off season excitement and the northern teams attendance will dwindle as the weather turns. What kinda temps and in mobile right now??........never mind.... I just looked it up mid 70's to 80's. If it was close to snow weather in mobile nobody would show up and UL would be lucky to get half attendance

RE: Weekly attendance thread(Week 9)
attendance smack is as goofy as band smack.

as long as the ncaa is letting you play fbs it doesn't matter one iota.

if it did ecu wouldn't still be in coosa.

if it did fiu wouldn't be going to coosa.

it's cheap message board smack. if gives one fan base a nana-booboo over another fan base for a given week.

if attendance means ANYTHING someone explain fiu to me. or ecu.

or appalachian state.

How about academics smack? Is that okay? 'Cause stAte just raised admissions standards again, and I was thinking it would be cool to belittle someone over that!

winston....you're certainly becoming one of my favorite posters amigo.

by all means....jump aboard the abc train.

it's not like i'm the arbiter of what is allowed on the world wide intenets.

i should preface every one of my posts with a great big IMO.

i guess attendance can help you with bowl games. it certainly helped fiu last year get in a flarda bowl. our crowd probably will be pitiful tomorrow night. i just have little faith in the bg folks to come out on a cold night.

the 8:15 start really does kill any out of towners except for the most hard core. but i know one idiot that will be there fo' sho'. ME.

As far as I'm concerned everyone in the league gets a pass for mid-week attendance. I look at it like your University is taking one for the team (Sun Belt Conference). As long as ESPN can use camera angle trickery well enough to keep the focus on the field - these showcases are great for our burgeoning badass of a league! #SECLite

And FIU and Louisiana were great for stAte recruiting.

We get our turn next week. Could be ugly in the stands and on the field.

Massaro said today that (SBC) teams probably lose around $50k for playing midweek vs. a Saturday.

But, I would think having a 3-hour long infomercial on your campus is worth that amount (as long as the crowd isn't as bad as FIU, and it won't be).

RE: Weekly attendance thread(Week 9)
I expect no more than 10,000 butts in the seats with a announced attendance of 16,000 and maybe 17 or 18,000 if the muts bring a couple thousand but that's very unlikely considering they had maybe 10,000 butts in the seats for UNT. My guess is they bring 500 maybe 700 at most.

Western will count the 8,000 season tickets and I believe 5,000 students and 3,000 non season tickets and muts fans for the 16,000

Unless something major happens on I-95, I-10, I-24, OR I-65 that stops me from getting there I will be one of the 16,000...I mean 10,000. Leaving Orlando at 7am for the 750 mile drive and since I only took shorts with me on the Miami trip look for the fool wearing a red WKU sweat shirt and shorts....that will be me.

Should have been a Saturday game and this would have been the 3rd straight WKU sellout

'Anyone see the UMiami crowd on ESPN tonight? I saw few if anyone inn the upper decks and, at best, portions of the lower decks were two-thirds full and portions, less than half full. For Virginia Tech. Maybe 20,000-25,000?

Miami is a suck town for supporting their local teams. If "The U" isn't a top five teams, people don't show up. And even then it is only when FSU or Notre Dame come to town.
