I see that Chancellor is out. Is your other WR, Hidalgo?, available?

Delgado will be back, but with Chancellor out, that takes away one of the few playmakers. There is just not enough talent here yet, time will tell with the freshman class we're redshirting 90% of. ASU will roll in this one, 30-13.

why are you redshirting 90% of the freshman class?

i get the whole build long thing. but that was one of willie's selling points early on.

every position was open....regardless of your seniority or age. a lot of these guys playing well now as juniors got thrown in the fire as 17-18 year old freshmen 2 years ago.

now that we're more established (a bit) i can see it with your linemen and such. but you look at the bammers and the flardas. if a kid is a difference maker at a skill position they're playing from day one.

That is just Mac's strategy. Only a few true freshman have played this year. I believe he said 19 freshman are redshirting. How that happens when we are 13 under the 85 scholarship limit is beyond me. I think with the three transfers, and a full class this year we will be caught up next season. I trust what Mac is doing, Rome wasn't built in a day and given our track record with JUCO's, wasn't built with JUCOs either.

Freeze and Malzahn both played freshmen. Hell Malzahn has a RB playing special teams only, since giving him a few carries in the Alcorn St. game. Also a WR who doesn't play much on offense. I think these two have been done a disservice. Buy hey, our special teams are "special", so whatever it takes.

We're starting a true Freshman center - and I bet that was part of the deal in recruiting. The SR. center quit since being replaced (he had already graduated, as I understand it). Also starting a true Freshman safety.

And don't forget Rocky "x-Squared" Hayes.

If that's what it takes to get better recruits - by all means play 'em. And if you can't find someone as good or better by the time they would have been 5th year seniors, then you probably aren't going to be a successful coach anyway.

If a skill player knows the position and can help then play them. Most OL and DL need a redshirt year but there are some who are ready as a freshman. When you play a guy you do have that redshirt later if something bad happens.

RE: Week 10 Games
There are supposedly many OL and DL freshmen red-shirting. Freeze and Malzahn are good coaches who know that you can't sell out JUCO and run freshmen off without taking hits in the future. UNT is and has been in a tough position scholly-wise. Hopefully the ship will be righted soon. I now know what they mean by program building instead of team building.

Wish our AD knew that before us fans had to witness it.

My Take

WKU over MT in a nail biter
ULM will continue drive for undefeated conference season with win over ULL
Tennessee easy winner over Troy
North Texas bounces back with Homecoming win over Arkansas State
FIU picks up a rare win over USA
Navy easily over FAU

WKU wins by 10
ULM wins by 14
Troy...upset special
ASU by 2 scores
USA reminds me of WKU...they beat a deflated FIU
Navy by 2 scores.
