Why do you think you would sell these buildings out??? Ultimately it would be GT playing a "lower level" team, no different then if they were playing FIU. The largest crowd ever at Bobby Dodd was only 56k and that was against Notre Dame back in 2006. Ga St will not bring that kind of excitement and support.
56k is a sell out at BDS. It would not sell out the Dome ut would be a huge crowd. The schools are separated by 6 blocks. GSU started in 1913 as the night business school for GT. There is a lot of combined history.A lot of combined parties and intermarriages. There are a lot of people who hold degrees from both schools. There are even more families with graduates from both. Until 2009 our music students marched in their band. There has been a close association for 100 years. Add to that a combined 53k students and 150k metro alumni.

And all that has meant nothing to your support to date. You are not bigger then you think you are, I don't think GT will care. It will help your home attendance when they play in the dome, but it will be 40k GT fans and 5k Ga St fans(maybe).

I would imagine if it were Tech we were playing it would be more like 20,000 State fans. On our most significant games of the season to fans (the home openers) we average between 20,000 and 30,000 fans, so i definitely think we could keep up our end.
Exactly. There are people who will always show up no matter what. That is the core 5k season ticket holders and the core 2k students. Beyond that the reality is that there are people who will not show up to watch a losing team. There are those who will not show up to watch us play Campbell or Villanova for that matter. The SBC will cause an uptick but the vast majority of students and alumni will not show up to watch us play Louisiana or Troy (at least not until the SBC starts making more national noise). A Georgia Tech game will bring out people who have never attended a GSU football game. It will bring out that 20k to 30k that attends the first game plus thousands more who will be interested because its Tech. I cant think of two FBS schools that are geographically closer that have more office, familial and social interrelationships on a daily basis. (Maybe Rice/Houston). Will old home reunion week. LOL. Too bad the first game likely will not be until 2014. Would rather play Tech than Bama or WVU.

Na. No point anymore in kicking them while they are down. The good thing for Ga State is that there is nowhere to go but up so that can be a good thing once it begins to turn.

No need for butt hurt....we will be fine. We're 6-1, #2 in FCS, #71 in RPI which is ahead of Houston at #87 and averaging over 20k in attendance. We play our biggest rival App State at home which will be a great atmosphere in fornt of 23k or more. Then we play UGA in a few weeks, and if we play anything like we did at Bama last year, we could make this game interesting.

With that said, I think the SB is a solid conference and a good fit for Ga Southern, so I hope to see us there soon. If not, we will be fine.

Let's get the thread back on topic. It sounds like GT will schedule a game with State. We have a game scheduled with GT in 2015, so they don't seem to have a problem scheduling in state teams, although they avoided us for years until Paul Johnson became coach.

I dont think either in state big school has problems scheduling a one off. The point is that a series with GT would be huge. I dont think we would ever get UGA to schedule a series and in fact last I heard that had not even been contact between the schools for even a one and done. A game with GT will excite the GSU base in a way that no other in state school would.

I would think UGA would eventually play State for a one and done if you continue to pursue it. Afterall, they play us every 4 years.

I thought I read somewhere that back when Evans was A.D. at UGA, there had been talks of playing them?

We sent a letter in 2009 and got no response. Someone said a week ago there has been no contact either way.
