Who had a Midnight Madness this year?
Tonight is either the 3rd or 4th for FAU. Every year it's gotten bigger and bigger, with last year taking up half the arena. I know, not saying much considering it's at the Burrow, but for a commuter school in South Florida to have that many students show up when free food isn't featured, that's pretty impressive.
So I was just curious, who ese had an event like this one this year?
I know WKU did, and I'd wager to guess that UNT, MTSU, A-State, UALR, and UL did as well.

We're having (is it on the 20th maybe?) a kick-off thing, at our new massive university center. Jimmy Dykes will be there, and there will be a big crowd, supposedly.

RE: Who had a Midnight Madness this year?
Yes WKU had it on the opening night. Not a bad crowd and would have been much bigger but two of the best highschool football teams in the state was playing each other (both bowling green schools) and one of them being one of the better teams in the country and they was playing at the same time as our event. We had just over 3500 show up

I hate to be a jerk as I am new to posting in this site, but when I see comments about the BGHS being one of the top teams in the country I can't let it go unchallenged. I have seen BGHS play on several occasions and they are very, very good. But with that being said, on a national scale they do not stack up. Having spent the first 50 years of my life in SW Florida I can tell you that the difference in football talent is huge (which explains why Willie Taggart has a top Sun Belt team w/ over 30% of his team being from Florida). In just the district that my sons played in came Joel German, Sammie Watkins, Terrance Cody, Javarris James, Edgerrin James to name a few. In fact, the alma mater of the James', a school of approximately 1,200 students, has 10 D1 prospects this year, including the a top 10 CB and a top 20 DT.
Sorry to be disagreeable and I definitely agree that that game probable cost Hilltopper Hysteria 1,000 to 2,000 fans.

ASU hasnt had a midnight madness since the NCAA moved the time up. Basketball team wasnt even allowed to use its home arena for practice its first day.

RE: Who had a Midnight Madness this year?
We had ours Monday night, about 2k in attendance which is surprising I expected a lot less given that basketball is still 3 weeks away. I'll post the ballislife video once they add it to their youtube channel. A lot of fun to watch, this team is deep, and so much taller/bigger than any UNT team I have seen in my short time as a bball fan over the last five years.

I don't know the answer - but I'm curious - do things like girls volleyball matches occur in Diddle?

yep. that could do it.

we do our hysteria in conjunction with a home volleyball set every year. the volleyballers get to play in front of more than they ever would and all the old pervs elbow each other sayin' "giggety....you see dat one....giggety"

but......when we redid diddle several years ago they made 2 full length practice courts on the side of diddle. men and women can go at the same time if needed.

but hell.....volleyball matches don't last that long. it's not like they had a 24 hour marathon match is it?

Yeah I don't know - the convo has multiple courts too as the bleachers can be rolled back to make room for them and the indoor track.

Also - I've not been in the building and this is speculation - but I wonder if the HYPESS wasn't funded as a student athletic center with major design considerations for men's and women's basketball and volleyball practice. It is a relatively new building that can host volleyball matches.

I understand that in the grand scheme of things, 50 is pretty high, don't know where you got 50 from(maxpreps has them #106) but even with a ranking of 50, I'm not sure that qualifies as one of the "top teams in the country".

If you don't mind me asking, what part of SW Fl?

FAU's was last night and I slept through just about all of it. Crowd which is almost all freshmeat didn't know what to do as they go there early, and many of the upperclassmen were pushed upstairs where the freshmen couldn't see what what the games are like. Also, the team didn't do much of anything either... 03-hissyfit

Lived the entire time in Hendry County, a true "Muck Rat". Grew up in Clewiston, moved to LaBelle in 1999. So the football teams that I watched were Glades Central, Pahokee, Immokalee, Glades Day, South Ft. Myers, Dunbar, Clewiston & LaBelle, etc. Quality football, at least everyone but LaBelle.

God bless you sir.
Born and raised in Tampa, so I've grown up with Plant, Armwood, and Lakeland just to name a few. Closest game I've seen near there would prolly be a game at Hardee way back when. Now that I'm here in Boca, I'd love to check out a Muck Bowl before I graduate.
