Center Cady Lalanne reinstated to UMass basketball team
[Image: cady-lalanne-2jpg-29c2c25a04c82f46.jpg]

After a 12-day suspension for an arrest at an on-campus function, sophomore Cady Lalanne has been reinstated to the University of Massachusetts basketball team by athletic director John McCutcheon while he awaits the results of a conduct case pending with the dean of students.

“I’m very grateful to rejoin the team and look forward to using this experience as a positive influence on campus and in the community,” Lalanne said at the team’s shootaround at the MassMutual Center Friday evening.

Lalanne was arrested Dec. 1 as part of a reported altercation with UMass police officers. He did not practice with the team until being reinstated Friday, and while he’s eligible to play Saturday against Elon, he will not start, according to coach Derek Kellogg.

Jesse Morgan (knee) out for season
[Image: bos_u_jmorg6_cr_600.jpg]

Massachusetts' hopes to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998 have taken a major hit with news that junior guard Jesse Morgan will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Morgan, the Minutemen's starting shooting guard and their second leading scorer at 13.4 points per game, was injured in Thursday's 70-62 loss at St. Louis. Morgan's right knee buckled as he drove to the hoop and he howled in pain while being tended to by team trainers.

The initial diagnosis was a sprain, but after Morgan was seen by doctors on Tuesday, the tear was discovered. He is expected to have surgery next month.

We shouldn't have lost to GW on Saturday. That was a bad loss. I thought we were going to come back and pull it out, but oh well.

The Camby ceremony is awesome though. Cal's video message was a nice touch.

Ram fans waited almost two full weeks to see VCU run the court at The Siegel Center. After getting a win in Charlotte last Saturday, the Rams looked to make it their fourth straight victory as they would play the University of Massachusetts for the first time ever.

The Minutemen gave VCU fits in the first half but the Rams were able to dominate UMass from the start of the second half to get the 86-68 win.
