Toughness scale (1-10): 9 -- Tony Mitchell could lead the Mean Green to a regional round upset of Kansas State in the NIT Season Tip-Off. And if that happens, a matchup with Virginia at MSG could happen, with Michigan or Pitt waiting in the wings. Even if the program stumbles, however, road trips to Creighton and SLU, a pair of top-25 squads, will boost its nonconference schedule in Tony Benford’s first season as head coach. C.J. McCollum and Lehigh come to Denton five days before Christmas for a meaningful mid-major matchup. No complaints for this slate.

ESPN has been showing little love to anyone outside of UNT in the Belt this year. It seems they forget that last years regular season champ (MTSU) and Tourney champ (WKU) both return most of their important players from the previous season. I am not saying we should be picked ahead of UNT, but you figure we could at least make the Next-Toughest category, over say Jackson St (7-24 last year).

Just saw the non-conference part, why did they included ULL then? Weird, ESPN still knows nothing about Sun Belt basketball.

MT plays Florida in Tampa, UCF in Orlando, ole miss at home, Vandy at Bridgestone arena (where the Nashville predators play), and at Belmont. I think the game I'm most excited about is UNT at home on new years eve. Could be a rocking Murphy center for a great game.
