I'll always miss some of our C-USA rivalries. We were with Memphis, Tulane & Houston all the way back to my college days, and our rivalry with TCU was always great in the end, too. I don't see that their move to the Mtn. West was a step up. It'd have been cool to have SMU as a rival. And I've always liked Marshall (but I'm glad not to be in the same conference with them - they're definitely *not* BCS material). But we've moved on so I'm all about the Big East now. It's cool finding a forum where I can talk Big East sports even though I'm out here in San Diego.

All U are seeing there is the same u see here... the NBE fans are still upset that the ACC took some of the OBE best schools... the NCUSA fans are still upset tha the BE took some of their best programs... CUSA isnt really competing with the BE we do not come from = places... we are competing with the MWC... to be the top non bcs league. As for the post that the BE doesnt belong in the BCS that mostly comes from the press.. that believe that the BE is the least of the bcs... I happen to agree... but also dont see u losing your bid.

Could have been worse. They could have lost to Southern Miss. I guess that's a reach though since Southern Miss can't make a post season tournament in basketball.

No, those are the schools that "on the rise" Southern Miss loses to. Nothing says national power like losing to Denver (only scoring 30 points!!!???), Samford, Sam Houston State and McNeese State while needing overtime to beat New Orleans. neither the BE or CUSA is BCS caliber... just BE is a bcs league.

If the Big East isn't BCS calibur, then how did WVU beat Georgia in Georgia?

Upsets happen... top to bottom the BE isnt even close to the SEC... WV and Louisville would rank in the top 1/3 and everyone else near the bottom.

The Big East is ahead of the Big 12 and the Pac Tin this year. The ACC may have more competitive teams, but taken as a whole, the Big East is comparable. We just have fewer teams. I'll agree that the SEC and Big Ten are head and shoulders above the other conferences, but only those 2 are really better than the Big East. The Big East has 1/4 of its teams in the top 15. How many other conferences can say that? Only 2 that I can think of.

not close to big 12.... and top to bottom not near ACC. Pac 10 - USC i might agree...

I see it for a number of reasons...

1) because you raided our top teams... some are angry, some want to be next

2) because you are the only BCS conference to have LOST members... some see this as an opportunity

3) because you are the only BCS conference with so many basketball only schools... you are unique, which isn't necessarily an advantage in everyones eyes

4) because you are one of the few BCS conferences WITHOUT a conference Championship or 12 football members, thus expansion is still possible, and potentially profitable

5) because you've had trouble filling all of your bowl guarantees, and you have fewer than the other BCS conferences. Nobody is arguing against your quality, only quantity... more bowls plus a conference championship may make up for splitting the pie more ways

Sure you're a better conference than we are, but you also make a ton more money and have a better TV contract. If we had your exposure and money, you might still be better, but the gap would close measurably. Louisville and USF are perfect examples... and I think there are a NUMBER of programs in the new CUSA with excellent histories to build upon.
