How about the Civic Center? You in favor of tearing that down?

Not in favor of it but I'm okay with it. The Plaza can take the place of the Chavez and the coliseum can take the place of the civic center.

The coliseum is nothing close to the civic center. . . the two are millions of dollars apart in facilities and purpose. I can't see the the PBA championships playing at the coliseum.

That's a good point. I was only thinking about seated attendance.

Many people liked that the Tiguas purchased the Diablos but that didn't mean that they actually went to the games.

Even someone with your limited intelligence should be able to figure out that the majority of El Pasoans will never set foot in that stadium.

Wow. Fitbud, you're right! Lets regress! That's how we can solve this problem that forward thinkers are bringing upon your miserable life.

This is where you are wrong. You and others believe in the myth that pro sports stadium improve the quality of life, improve the economy, revitalize downtowns.

The truth of the matter is that they don't. While they might be an enjoyable new event for sports enthusiast, they do little else.

Countless books have been written about it.

If you truly want to move this city forward then what you need to do is improve it from the bottom up rather than from the top down.

Baseball stadiums do nothing for those who are poor and don't have money. It's simply another toy for the middle and upper classes to enjoy.

Ahhh. Now it seems we're getting to the root of your problem. Wealth redistribution. You don't like to see people succeed and enjoy the fruits of their endeavors, you simply want to know where's your cut.

If by wealth redistribution, you mean corporate welfare then the answer is yes.

I think it is irresponsible for the city to use tax payer money to subsidize a stadium for a professional sports team.

I didn't say corporate welfare. I don't need to explain my post any further, I think it suits you perfectly.

What I care about is that the citizens of El Paso are informed about the possibility of leveling public buildings for private investment. They should have a say in how and when that happens.

Oklahoma City was able to do that. I don't see why El Paso cannot do the same.
