Word to the wise re: ULM
Guys,
I am in no way trying to down play what ULM has done this year. It is remarkable and definintely helped elevate the profile of the conference however, I'd like to take you to the way-back machine.

In 2008, MT beat a Maryland team that finished 8-5 and with four Top 25 victories.

We lost by a foot at Kentucky (another bowl team) and held second-half leads against Mississippi State and Louisville.

Guess how it turned out? We finished 5-7, 3-4.

If anyone wants to argue that the 2008 SBC was tougher than the 2012 SBC, then I'm all ears, but let's just keep in mind that once you get into conference play, all bets are off.

It should be a good game Saturday. My belief:
If the Middle team that played McNeese shows up, then ULM wins in a rout.
If the Middle team that played FAU shows up, the ULM wins and probably comfortably.
If the Middle team that played Memphis shows up, then it's a toss up.
If the Middle team that played GT shows up, then it's gonna be MT by 10+.

RE: Word to the wise re: ULM
If comes down to the kickers, I'd also give it to MT.

I think ULM's kicking game is their biggest achilles heel which, in part, explains the strategy of keeping the offense on the field in fourth down situations.

I don't really disagree with you at all. Yes, we ULM fans are proud of the team this year and are feeling pretty good. We finally have a team that has played together and is fairly healthy. We lost Blakes for the year but his back up has gotten some playing time before and has a game as a starter under his belt. We lost Centarius Donald for a couple of games and that has hurt the running game but he is back for this game. Yes, our defense has given up some yardage but, with the exception of Tulane, we have played some offenses with a lot of talent so it will be interesting to see what they do against Middle. The offense has been clicking and if it continues as it has then it can score against anyone.

I think this will be a very good game and may come down to mistakes (turnovers).

And I do agree that our major flaw is the kicking game. Only 2 FG attempts and they were blocked. Maybe part of Berry's 4th down attempts but I think he has sort of bought into the ideas floating around to say to heck with punting/kicking. A lot of the attempts on 4th down have been outside of FG range this year.

Hopefully the local bar will have the game on so I can drink with people because sitting at home and drinking would be a sign of a problem!! 03-lmfao

Enjoy the game for those of you seeing it in person. Eat some good tailgating food, drink some fine adult beverages, and hopefully everyone (players and fans) have a safe afternoon.

I'd go so far as to say that the kicking game is the only flaw in your offense right now.

UL-Monroe will jump on Middle Tennessee early. By the time Middle gets its ground game going it will be too late. The Warhawks jump out to an early 17-21 point lead and then the two teams pretty much match scores until the very end.

The only way that happens is if we turn the ball over early or a few big special teams plays. It won't be because ULM's defense slows down the battering ram that is Benny Cunningham and the rest of our balanced attack.
