Than I guess we are really, really country...kids have been doing it for 3 decades now. It's actually been one of the most controversial topic on our message boards. People are afraid that expansion will take that away from kids and ruin game day experiences for families. From the renderings it looks like there will be plenty of room for kids to enjoy themselves.

And that middle rendering that shows a bowled in seating setup, that is no longer accurate. Use the top and bottom pictures for reference.

To be fair hill sliding is not exclusive to the South 03-lmfao it was done in my childhood out west.

Of course the Football Operations Bldg is a new addition, but is 20,000sq' larger than called for in the study and in the end zone instead of at Eagle Creek. Oh, and yes I'm Stoked about it !

I think Monken and Dr. Keel had a lot to do with that.

I remember when kids would do that at App. Can't any more, as the hill is full of fans. I miss it, but having fans there makes the stadium look more, for lack of a better term, FBS.

Indian Stadium was great for that - that north end zone (before the end zone seats) seemed like 45 degrees - we had a blast!

Can kids today take still take a piece of cardboard and a hill and make a glorious afternoon of it?

No. First they'd have to go outside and then they'd have to be creative/imaginative. Technology is good but kids have gotten so lost in it they don't go out and play.
My generation would go out from dawn till dusk and only go home for lunch. Even my kids did that. Now, not so much.

Only reason we have them in Statesboro is because we dug our stadium into the ground, and piled up the dirt around the edges. :)

Here is the planned expansion for stage 1

Expansion 1A was 5K additional seats by extending the current stands outward on the student and pressbox sides along with upgraded bathrooms and concessions.

Expansion 1B was the Student Side upper Deck which adds 4K more.

Now if we can just get our big money alum Dan Cathy at Chic-fil-a more involved. He has $4 billion in the bank. That would help a little......maybe Chic-fila can sponsor the Sun Belt championship game for an invite.

Stadium renderings look good.

Cathy seems to be more interested in Berry College than his alma mater though.

I'm not upset with the Ga Southern or Appy people in here so much. I think its obvious they are a likely finalist for expansion. This thread isn't a waste of time. Does anyone really object to Ga Southern or Appy in the league? Not that they're a lock, but I don't see anyone who would be upset if the Belt took either or both of them.

Ga Southern is the best fit for the league right now. It makes sense to pay attention to what they are doing.

Cathy gave the commencement speech at last year's graduation so they are working to get him more involved. As much as Chic-fil-a supports college football, he will give more as the program becomes more visible in FBS. Word is he donated towards the $10 million football operations center.

I get tired of everyone having a hard on for them and letting them litter our board with posts about anything and everything to do with their schools. It does get halfway annoying when you click on a thread and it's hijacked by FCS fans. There's a conference realignment forum for a reason, but I guess the mods love them too much.

If our presidents didn't want to add them last time, why is now any different? Just because they came out and said they wanted to be FBS? Please.

I agree with this. It is not that I don't welcome the FCS teams (I would actually like to have GaSouthern and AppState in the Sun Belt), but these posts belong in the Realignment forum until those programs actually join the Belt (if that ever happens).

I see you have frequently posted on the CUSA board. Using you logic above, why would you post there when MTSU is a member of the Sun Belt?

Benson has mentioned us as a school of interest in an interview in the past month.

The rule of thumb has always been to post realignment related stuff on the Conference Realignment board. Its not the same as going on a board and posting a comment related to a topic on that board. The individual sub boards have varying degrees of leniency where this is concerned. CUSA board mods will likely admonish you.Big East mods might castrate you and have you drawn and quartered. The SBC board mods are the most lenient have seen especially where GaSo and App State are concerned. App State posters I have to say have been very good at governing themselves.

Again, this appeared to be a thread started, not br Ga Southern folks, but by someone who ostensibly supports a current member, Troy. Which is, in my view, acceptable. The Georgia Southern folks are, on this thread, commenting on a post about their school. Again, acceptable.

To be honest, Im kind of interested in seeing what applicant schools are doing as we are the group they're trying to be a part of.

The GSU is awful we're Ga Sou or App or JSU stuff clearly doesnt belong here. I dont think this is the same in my opinion.

I am sure the mods can handle their job just fine. Let's keep this thread on topic out of respect for my Troy friend that started it.

You do have the option of not clicking on it.

That would be idea if the conference realignment board followed that same rules that poster on this board what to follow. There is more threads on the realignment board about other subjects than realignment. It seams to be the catch all board that realignment board.
