Okay...in all honesty I don't even think we have communicated at all in the "last several weeks".

I don't think Troy actually had 5-7k actually at the game. They might have bought that many tickets (as was rumored) but the rain kept a lot of people on both sides away. Local sports bars had mentioned seeing lots of Jags and Trojans during the game to watch it on TV. And a lot of people stayed in their tailgating tents because of the rain. It's hard to gauge though because everyone was wearing ponchos of various colors. I think more realistically Troy had between 2,500-4,000 in the stands, which is still a great number. If it hadn't been raining there pobably would have been between 5-7k Trojan fans, and a ton more Jag fans.

Could be. All I remember is my area had tons of troy fans from the bottom of the stands to the top.

Also I do with USA would put the visiting band in a better spot than the endzone. Its just very hard for the whole band to see the drum major when they are spread out 15 yard because they cant go up due to the banners.

USA is not there to accommodate the opponents! Lol Be glad we allowed your band to come. 03-drunk But nah, my guess is that visiting bands will always get the endzone because USA would rather sell sideline seats than endzone seats because they are worth more $. Besides, if the ticket sales figures were correct those seats were already accounted for.

As far as the banners, there were plans to remove them for your band. I'm not sure what changed.

It bares mentioning that the year we went 10-3, you went 9-4(8-0), and only had one conference game decided by less than a touchdown so you guys were no slouch that year and we had a quarterback who many MT fans still believe was on the take and I'm not saying he was, but I've heard enough messed up stuff about the guy that I cannot entirely dismiss the notion.

Since the series ramped up in 2006, there have been three years that our teams have really appeared, at least on paper, to be similar in class. In 2007, 2008 and 2010, you were clearly the better team. Not just on the day the game was played, but when you look at the results from the rest of the season. In 2006, 2009, and 2011 we appeared to be pretty similar teams, in 2006 and 2011 the games were decided by a combined four points. In 2009, we had a quarterback that shredded the rest of the conference and our teams beat the rest of the conference by a similar margin. Of the three games our teams appeared to be of a similar class, the only one that wasn't close, was the only one he played in.

Even if you want to entirely dismiss any funny business going on outside the game, 2009 is still the anomaly of the series, yes you've blown us out more often than not, but again, three out of the four years that you blew us out there was no question who the better team was when you compare the seasons of each team.

There's still a lot of football to play between now and our game this year, but at least right now, it looks like it should be another year in which our records are reasonably similar and maybe I have the blue glasses on, but if one of us is going to be more than a game better than the other by the time the game gets here, I expect it to be us and you guys took it on the chin a couple of times in conference games last year, including against WKU who had previously never beaten you guys. So while us blowing you out wouldn't certainly be a surprise, it's not like the precedent for unexpected blow outs doesn't exist at all.

It's all fun to talk about now, and again, there is tons of football left for both of us to play and it's fun to dream about putting a whoopin on you guys, but in total honesty I expect the margin of victory(for whoever wins) to be much closer to 2006 and 2011 than to the four years in between.

Not even close. Maybe 2,500 at the most. But still very good Troy turnout.

There might have been more Troy fans come to Mobile but I'm not sure how many were in the stands. My personal guess was 2,500-4,000. Splitting the difference is 3,250. However, I have no doubt that had it not been raining there would have been 5-7k Troy fans, a lot more USA fans, and a new Sun Belt attendance record for a conference game.

Hahaha. He sure was walking around. Kinda freaky, huh AT? But you stared far too long. I think you're envious of his suit. You want me to track him down and ask him where he got that suit?
