What Separation? - Week 4
Week 4 Upsets

Central Michigan 32 , Iowa 31 MAC
Western Michigan 30, UCONN 24 Big East
Ball State 31, South Florida 27 Big East
Louisiana Tech 52, Illinois 24 WAC

************************************************
RECAP
Week 1 Upsets

McNeese State 27, Middle Tennessee 21 SBC (FCS loss)
Ohio 24, Penn State 14 Big Ten
Brigham Young 30, Washington State 6 PAC 12
Nevada 31, California 24 PAC 12
Colorado State 22, Colorado 17 PAC 12
Youngstown State 31, Pittsburgh 17 Big East (FCS loss)
Tennessee-Martin 20, Memphis 17 CUSA (FCS loss)
Texas State 30, Houston 13 CUSA

Almost upsets

Maryland 7, William & Mary 6
No. 12 Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21
Iowa 18, Northern Illinois 17
Wake Forest 20, Liberty 17
Indiana 24, Indiana State 17
Arizona 24, Toledo 17 (OT)

Week 2 Upsets

Utah State 27, Utah 20 PAC 12
Sacramento State 30, Colorado 28 PAC 12 (FCS loss)
Rice 25, Kansas 24 Big 12
North Dakota State 22, Colorado State 7 MWC (FCS loss)
Northern Arizona 17, UNLV 14 MWC (FCS loss)
Louisiana-Monroe 34, No. 8 Arkansas 31 SEC
Illinois State 31 Eastern Michigan 24 MAC (corrected)

Almost upsets

Washington State 24, Eastern Washington 20
Michigan 31, Air Force 25
South Florida 32, Nevada 31

The PAC 12 does not appear to be that strong and the ACC has dodged a couple of bullets.

Week 3 Upsets

CAL Poly 24 Wyoming 22 MWC (FCS loss)
Western Kentucky 32 Kentucky 31 SEC
Ball State 41 Indiana 39 BIG TEN
Fresno State 69 Colorado 14 PAC 12

Almost upsets

Washington State 35 UNLV 27
Minnesota 28 Western Michigan 23
Auburn 31 Louisiana Monroe 28
Wisconsin 16 Utah State 14
Mississippi State 30 Troy 24

18 "upsets" so far. It appears the PAC 12 has dropped two notches. It also appears that the SBC has improved to compete and win against the lower half of the SEC. It also looks like the Big Sky is ready to move up to FBS. They have four wins against FBS opponents (1 PAC 12 and 3 MWC).

What signifies an almost upset? I would think that Troy's 6-point loss to Mississippi State would make the list if we are considering an 8-point loss by UNLV to a hapless Washington State an almost upset.

Very true

I did not see the game between Troy and MSU. Did Troy ever have the lead in the third quarter or did they just score a few points in the end to make it look like a close game?

I just reviewed the Box Score for the MSU vs Troy and it was a closer game. I added them to the almost upset list. +1

RE: What Separation? - Week 4
TROY scored a TD at the 12:41 mark in the 4th to make it 23-21.
At 7:00 left MSU scored on 4th down on disputed completion to Bumphis in the back of the endzone (bobled it as he was going out of bounds) to go up 30-21.
At the 4:07 mark we kicked a FG to make it 30-24, hoping to get the ball back- but unfortunately MSU ran the clock out.

Yeah, I would say it was an "almost upset"
