Richmond up 21-0 on the Panthers who officially join the SBC next season.
7min. left in 2nd Quarter

In spite of the score, Georgia State has showed some promise. They will not, IMHO, have the necessary athletes to compete in the SBC for another 3-4 years. But it's not hopeless, either. Also the crowd is small (just a guess: 8,000?) but very spirited and all wearing GSU blue+white.

This could work out very nicely for GSU and for the Belt.

Still not sure about that program. They have a long way to go. So many other programs that could have come in with so much more to offer.

One thing Georgia State needs to work on: their unis look very highschool-ish. Just "Panthers" across the front; nothing but the jersey # on the back.

USAjags, I don't disagree with you. But now the decision is made, I hope GSU and the rest of the Belt can make the best of it. I think there is some legitimate basis for optimism.

21-7 after GSU stages an 80-yd drive. The crowd is loving it.

Per AJC, estimates range from 2,000-4,000 in attendance with less than 350 students. Too much entertainment competition in Atlanta. PGA Tour Fedex cup event featuring the world's best in golf, Ga Tech home game, UGA home game, Music Midtown event, Braves on TV. Might be time for Curry to step aside now.

I'm here in the Dome and I Know there's more than 4,000.

Anyway, the people that did show up are really into it.

I would say that GSU needs a rival to build attendance but someone would get mad no matter what is said about something like that, so I won't say anything.

Hopefully they will have Ga Southern in the next couple years.

Playing in that building, you would hope they would be able to bring in a big time opponent that wanted an easy trip to Atlanta.

Our attendance at Ladd hasn't been up to par in two games, so it may be best to lay off Georgia State. Plus we might better get another win or two before we start pointing fingers. Speaking of which, if we were playing them this year we might be able to eek out another win.

We also had issues with mother nature. They are in an air conditioned dome in a city of 5 million people. They are quick to point that out to us often. As far as the Jags, the Troy game will be rocking. Then we have FAU for homecoming and a game against FIU and MTSU. Our attendance should creep back up.

Is there any chance that USA's recent attendance issues are related to the fact that the "newness" has worn off?

I don't think so. For the first game there were signs of a big crowd before the game (such as RV parking being sold out) but Hurricane Isaac forced us to move the game date from Thursday to Saturday last minute and a lot of people had already made Labor Day plans for that weekend. That and the heat was really intense. The second game was against the only FCS team on our schedule and also in high heat. I think we still have a chance for some great crowds this year.

GSU football will be Atlanta's version of UAb. They are fighting an uphill battle in trying to gain traction for support in ATL. To much competition from already established programs in the area.

USA is better off, there is no other football within the area. USM is 90 miles away and in another state, Troy is 3.5 hours away, and Montgomery is 3 hours away.
