As long as we get assurances from every member school that they will only do one body bag game per year, I don't mind it. That's what Benson wants to do. I hope he can make that happen.

Does the Sunbelt not do a round robin now? Figure Texas St and Georgia St can just replace UNT and FIU on the rotation and not have to wait until 2015.

Nope. Everyone is missing one game this year. Thankfully for us, it's the Cajuns.

We've never had ten teams until this year.

How is this "breaking" we've known about it since USA's entry was set.

I don't say this to be ugly or start flaming, but this is far from breaking news. It has been announced for a couple years now, with the addition of USA. We are taking out UNT and FIU and adding TxState and GSU. Nothing else has changed.

I forgot USA wasn't replacing anyone. Looks like we will have to wait a couple extra years to get to play a team. Wonder if Texas St and Georgia St will do a home and home next two years to help fill each others schedules.
So far this is all we have
2013: Wyoming
2104: Navy
Both home games. I'd assume a body bag and FCS will be added each year as well.

RE: BREAKING: Sun Belt set to play Nine-Game Football Schedule beginning in 2015
I am curious as to whether or not Georgia State and Texas State will simply adopt what was to be the league schedules for FIU and UNT when they join next year. Obviously the league needs to keep its home and road balance the next 2 years without forcing teams to play 2 or 3 games in a row at the same place, like has happened in the past.
That and I really want Texas State to come to Jonesboro next year...which they would do if they took UNT's schedule.
As for the 9 games, its just fine with me as long as everyone goes to one body bag. (I want ASU to go to zero)

If the SBC were to only do 1 "body bag" game, wouldn't that hurt recruiting a little??
I noticed in past years that a lot of the higher-rated recruits for Troy have always mentioned the big games against the likes of Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Florida, etc. as part of the reason they chose Troy. They like playing the big dogs.

Why would players not like playing the best schools at their level of play.
Any FBS school that has players or fans that think of these games as 'body bag' games should consider playing at a lower level.

I agree. Especially with games like ULM @ Arkansas last week. There is always a chance. There is a lot to gain from playing those games($$$, recruits, HUGE wins) without any real downside. If you lose, so what, everyone expected you to.

Cause I you take multiple beat downs a year then it makes the program look bad and that's how the Sunbelt gained its reputation.

Yeah I agree. I'd like to avoid the games against the top 5 if possible - but I'd like to play 2 games a year vs. schools that are a formidable challenge - a chance to prove something - and I know the players feel the same way. It would be nice to get one to play on our home field once in a while though.

This article on our old Scout.com site from July 2011 was the first breaking of this breaking news.

Sounds like a smart move for the Sun-Belt. It would be a smart move for most of C-USA, but it would be a financial disaster for ECU so I hope it doesn't happen.

Yea and isn't that why you moved up to FBS in the first place? If all you want to do is play smaller schools all the time you might as well play FCS. The point of FBS is to play big name teams.
