They also worked with the PAC-12 and Big Sky. So look at their updates to get an idea of what you'll get.

RE: Branding Initiative for the SBC
The only way to rebrand a conference is by progressively improving its competitiveness year in and year out against all other conferences. That is where our image grows, that is where exposure comes from, and that is how we successfully recruit, etc. I can change the name of a product, but if the product is the same then what is the significance? The SBC has been a growing conference the past decade. We are progressively moving up the ranks...why waste money on research when the conference is already rebranding itself...just my opinion.

Both of them have very sharp logos IMO.

I agree. If anything happens, I think a smokin' new logo would be cool.

Just get a new logo and push SBC instead of Sun Belt.

Thats all that really needs to happen. The timing is just about perfect.

ULM made a big ole splash in the media and if the rest of the league can get some OOC wins (Sorry guys FAU will be NO help in this regard this year) then launch the new logo and SBC intitiative to capitalize just after bowl season.

Very True, but the rebranding on TOP of performance is what could get us to the next level.

We need a good week here. It could either be truly incredible or knock us right back down again.

As Raider Al used to say: "Just win, baby . . Just Win" Winning cures a lot of problems, though I agree with you . .. re-branding on top of winning could be just the ticket!

I don't think we need to do anything to change our brand image. The Sun Belt is simply the youngest FBS conference and we have had to build what we have today. Changing anything would set us back.

From a maketong standpoint This is incorrect. Marketing lesson #1 if you are trying to sell a product and it isnt selling that well and you make changes or improvements to said product, you change the name so people will give iit another try. And the trick Is to time the new brand at the optimum time when the product is on the start of the upswing.

That is true, but when the product is something like college football, where tradition is one of the key factors to success...you need to build the brand and stay the course. Something new has no history.

while this is true, it apples to the big schools. when was the last time teams currently in the big 5 started a new conference from scratch. they haven in a while because of tradition. our problem is. the only "tradition" the sun belt has is being a bottom dweller conference since its creation. even after our great strides the people that matter don't see it. the trick is to do something like a name change right at the point where we start our up swing. which i feel we are very close to.

we have the opportunity to change this in a simple name change. say a new conference was created and stats winning OOC games and knocking off the big 5 and winning bowl games and sending good numbers of fans to said games. this conference is going to move to top of perception. and we both know college football is 5% on field play and 95% perception.

lets take a look at the big 6 conference names. Big 10, Big12, Big East, Atlantic coast conference, South Eastern Conference, PAC-12. those all just sound big time. as much as i love the sun Belt conference, its name is not. it too me groups together with a conference such as the big sky, or the southland. IMO we are a FBS conference with a FCS name. if we want to be FBS we need to have a name that reflects it and to me this is the perfect time for a name change.

I hope we see a commercial that goes all Terry Crews Old Spice.

Like a guy in a Sun Suit just walking around punching SEC, ACC, etc mascots in the face.

Then it shows all of our coaches flying biplanes and shooting King Kong off the Empire State Building.
