RE: Week One Attendance
Are those accurate numbers, or tickets sold, and how do they compare with last seasons opening weekend?

UNT has Texas Southern coming to Denton next week. They are not a flashy bowl team, but after watching the LSU game and knowing how bad TSU is, we should put a beating on them. I think 19,000 might show up for the game.

That is actually a very big number for UL. Where I live, we had 4 inches of rain prior to the game.

Comparison is difficult. You can report tickets sold, tickets distributed, or gate attendance. Every school can report whichever number they want.

Hard to believe Memphis had 39k. They are well documented to quadrupling actual attendance figures.

Hell, I'm not sure Vandy had that many for South Carolina on Thursday.

Very surprised by Louisiana's low number. I expected, for a home opener, 28,000-30,000.

This is the first thread on the "entire site" that I've visited this weekend because I wanted to see some attendance numbers. I'm not believing some of these numbers AT ALL. I watched both the ECU-App St game and the Tulane-Rutgers game.
Both sides of both venues were shown at multiple times during the game. ECU's stadium never looked half full and looked like a ghost town in the 3rd when it was a VERY close game.
As for the Super Dome, I bet there were maybe 500 Rutgers fans and 8,000 at most for Tulane. The place was emptier then ANY game in the Georgia Dome I've ever seen.

We must have watched a different ECU game.

RE: Week One Attendance
Im telling you, they panned the stands several times and it was half empty, they said the heat sent the crowd out in droves. No idea if the 49K took turns walking in and out to keep air circulating or what but the scenes I witnessed were very large tracts of empty seats throughout the game.

ECU's stadium looked extremely full to me. After half-time there was a small section that had emptied out, but the stadium was still very full. I don't know what game you were watching.

It was fairly empty in the last few quarters (I think it was extremely hot there), but it was really full at the beginning of the game.
