OT: UTM beats Memphis, FCS on the rise
Memphis lost to UT-Martin 20-17 last night. This sets the stage for a massively interesting matchup between MT and Memphis in the coming weeks. Both teams lost to FCS schools, but I think McNeese is the better one... Not a good start to the Fuente era at Memphis. The crowd of 39,076 must have been disappointed to hear this... The game was actually delayed several hours, because of severe thunderstorms. At least it wasn't just the SBC losing to FCS schools.

Losses to FCS schools:

McNeese State 27, Middle Tennessee 21
Eastern Washington 20, Idaho 3
Youngstown State 31, Pittsburgh 17
Tennessee-Martin 20, Memphis 17

There were also many close calls, including:

Florida Atlantic 7, Wagner 3
Maryland 7, William & Mary 6
#12 Wisconsin 26, Northern Iowa 21
Wake Forest 20, Liberty 17
Kansas 31, SD State 17
Indiana 24, Indiana State 17
