Good for them, it's a shame no team sports though. I hope ODU can work something out with C-
USA in a similar manner. It's really not fair for the athletes. The CAA basketball tournament this year will have something like 7 teams in it.

Yeah,

I understand the Team sports, just not enough time to make schedules work out. If this was the best the SBC could do, I am happy they were able to help. At least some of GSU's students wont get screwed out of postseason.

Like you said hopefully ODU can get a similar deal from C-USA

It's a stupid rule, if you're in the conference you should be able to compete for a conference title. We shouldn't have a problem getting an at-large bid for football. I don't really follow b-ball until January or so but on the ODU boards most seem to think we'll be hard pressed to win an at large. I think Ga St is ineligible for football this year because they've begun transition.

That is correct. NCAA rules say that once you are transitional, you are no longer eligible or the playoffs. I don't know that we'd have made it anyway.

The difference in attitude towards are program is night and day with the SBC. It's an awesome show of good faith to give us this opportunity. Great news!

I'd love to see something worked out for team sports too. The problem is that if we allow Georgia State to participate in SBC mens/womens basketball and baseball/softball and they get the bid, then the CAA would get the money for having them participate. I'd ask the CAA whether they'd let us keep the money if they won our auto-bid. The answer would likely be no, but it'd make them look even more petty.

Its not going to happen which is why Coach Hunter is putting together the toughest OOC schedule in GSU MBB history

GA St. is picked 11th in the CAA for 2012, so the playoffs would have been highly unlikely.

Awesome. Where was Towson and ODU picked in 2011?

You raise a good point. ODU, a 3rd year program, was picked in the bottom three of the CAA last year yet made the FCS playoffs.

GA St. will also be a third year program this year. Are you willing to equate GA St. to ODU, it would only make sense as they should be able to achieve a similar result given all the advantages they have versus the CAA schools?

What is your prediction of the number of wins GA St. will finish with in 2012?
