We are on record in agreement. Some reason that doesn't surprise me.

RE: The NCAA gets one right - From the Bird's Nest
"Had the brass stepped forward when they first discovered what Jerry Sandusky was later convicted of doing, their integrity and economy would have been compromised."
That statement, in the light of what happened afterwards, doesn't make sense to me. If the Penn State brass had stopped this early on like they were supposed to, the damage would have been minimal if any at all. In fact, they would have been lauded as having taken care of a problem as soon as it was brought to light and a child molester would have been off the street a long time ago.

I think it would be fair to say that they made the decision to cover up the child rape based on an assumption that it would adversely affect Penn States football program, whether it be through recruiting, donations, or possibly bad press reducing the overall university image. In all of these cases, the trail leads to money in some way, shape, or form. If they didn't think this was the case, then what would be the purpose of the cover up.
In addition, the thing that further infuriates me is that by not reporting the incident they then became complicit in any future transgressions. How many of those innocents were affected by that decision?
