GaSouthern remaining in the SoCon doesn't matter what-so-ever to what App State will do. Besides, it wasn't an announcement, just an off the wall comment by GaSo AD. They need to a AD that isn't mainly concerned with raising money for GaSo by using this FBS thing to get people to send money to him, and take going to FBS more seriously. Their AD admitted last week that he only made one phone call to one FBS conference, the Sun Belt, and asked them about getting into the Sun Belt. This was after GaSt and Texas State and UT-Arlington had already been invited into the conference, and he claims they told him the conference was full. One phone call. Dang, GaSo AD is really working hard.
I can see being an ECU fan how things pretty much suck for them right now conference wise. It has taken a lot of years and a lot of effort to get to where they are only to see local teams skip all that work and be conference equals with them.
There should be more justice in the world.
Well that statement certainly isn't true, as someone has to want you or your never going to be FBS. I hope you guys make it, and I wanted you over Charlotte, but C-USA is never inviting you and at the moment it doesn't look like the Sun-Belt is either. That could change at any moment if C-USA adds more teams or loses more teams and adds more Sun-Belt teams. App and JMU sell tickets and have fan bases, and long term if we aren't going to ever make it to a big boy league I'd just like to be associated with programs who have as much passion for football as we do. I think you guys, JMU, and ODU have that. We'll have to see what Charlotte can do but color me skeptical.
That statement is true. We will be, no doubt about it. Too many possibilities. Too much passion. Would help if you guys would talk the SEC into taking you. Been going on their site for years advocating ECU to the SEC along with several ECU posters. So get it done. Would laugh every time that UNC, State or anyone in the ACC would mention football after that.

Can I just front some checks to have App St, Ga Southern, and JMU to come up to the SBC already? Granted that would mean that we would need to add another school, preferably out West. Well, just hop on board MNSU, who could I write a check to?
Now only if I could win the lotto, and make this all reality.

The subject has interest as some folks don't giggle when thinking of your program. It is also forty five days away from football season. I'd rather be watching football to be honest but...

I do agree that App is not "waiting" for an opportunity along with Southern, but I will say I believe there is something to the rumor they are working together as a package deal. I think by doing that it helps alleviate some of the media market rode block that we both face.

Also, conferences want an even number of teams, so it only makes sense to take teams in pairs. Why not work with your biggest rival to move up together and keep the rivalry going? SBC could get two of the biggest names in FCS (I know, it's still FCS - but we aren't start ups) and a huge rivalry that helps generate interest.
That being said, I don't think either team would "wait" for the other. They are going to try and sell the package deal, but if that doesn't work they won't let their school be held back by the other if that phone call comes in.

I dont think App is waiting, and I dont think theyre working as a team either. Cobb hasnt finished with his CUSA obsession yet. I know Cusa would fill our coffers attendance wise, but dang, lets move on already. App doesnt need Cusa, we need FBS. The SB would be a much better place to start in, being the lone SB school in NC opposite ECU and Uncc.
I have no faith in Baker's ability to do anything that may be seen as progress. I dont know if I'd sign my name on the same paper as his if I was Cobb. I know it isnt contagious, but it is scary nonetheless.

Actually a FCS fan started this stupid thread and it would be a JSU guy.
As for the thread I like App and Southern moving up when they can actually afford it because they would be competitive in football at least. However, I think some of you guys will be in for a shock when you realize the ULM's of the Sun Belt will not be as bad as you think and will probably beat you until you have FBS talent.

but there is always the second year.
