RE: Louisiana Preview
I'll take it! Although I truly think we will get to 9 wins before the bowl game, I would be happy with another 9-4 season with a bowl victory!

A 9-4 regular season is something to shoot for. Tack on a bowl win and it's halleluh time.

I agree, but we are better in all facets of the game compared to last season. We are much, much more talented on the defensive side of the ball this year. We will have the best special teams unit in the Sunbelt now that TY Hilton is gone from FIU.

I know people will try to downplay what Cajun fans are saying, but we said it last year and no one believed it. We were better in the Spring Game this year than we were in week 7 of last season. I look for stAte, WKU and Troy to be our biggest roadblocks within conference. That doesn't mean we will run through the Belt, but if we play up to our capabilities then those are the only 3 teams that have a legitimate chance at defeating the Cajuns.

An explanation on how the writer thinks the Cajuns are going to reach 8 wins in relationship to the schedule would have had great value to the Preview along with expected new contributors ie: Transfers/JC

Home Schedule: ASU, FIU, Tulane, Lamar, USA, WKU.....which are wins?

FIU, Tulane, Lamar, USA, and WKU with road wins over FAU, UNT, and Troy.

You see I'm thinking wins are ASU, Tulane, Lamar, USA, WKU and FIU, road wins at FAU and UNT. ULM and Troy are going to be real emotional games for the home teams and both could pull the win over UL. And for that reason, I think the Cajuns will take care of ASU at home as well. 04-rock

There is no doubt you certainly could. Teach Gauthier the difference between the uniform colors for both teams, and I think you have a good shot.

RE: Louisiana Preview
I think the Cajuns will repeat what they did last year, going undefeated in home games. Arkansas State hasn't won in Lafayette since 1992, unless I missed a game between now and then. I do see the Cajuns dropping one or two Sunbelt games, but I just don't think it will be at home in front of close to 30k.

23 TD to 6 INT last season. Seems to me like he already can tell the difference. Don't base your impression on Gauthier on that anomaly of a performance at ASU last season. I was there, the wind was blowing as hard as a mild tropical storm. Not to discredit ASU's defense, as it was a pretty physical game.

I will take more then Gautier to beat ASU, the defense needs to kick it up a notch. Having said that both teams are mirror images in that they will have high powered offenses, good special teams and questions on defense. The difference being this season, if Gautier goes down there will be no Chris Masson coming off the bench to replace him. That honor goes to Terrance Broadway whom is more then capable of leading the offense with similar athletic ability. The difference will be the emotion of the crowd and Hudspeth. I'm hoping for a 2pm kick-off again! 03-lmfao

I'm also going to take this time to complain again about a roughing the passer call on Aplin when he was running down-field on a keeper. I'm done. 04-cheers

I have to admit, Nick Mason was my absolute favorite player on your team.

2pm game isnt possible considering we've got a midweek game this year.

How is your kicking game looking this year? We signed a kid out of High School who has a 90 percent plus touchback rate on kickoffs, and has a long field goal of 68. Accuracy is his big issue, so my guess is he handles long field goals and kickoffs.

We still have Bret Baer as our PK/P. He is damn near automatic as a FG kicker and is something ridiculous like 7-11 on onside kicks. Plus I believe he led the conference in net punting average.

I know the you guys are coming off a midweek game, just having a little fun. The transition from kicking in highschool and college is much harder then most think. Give the freshman a transition period, most need it.

Brett Baer is returning for the Cajuns, he is a all-conference candidate and pro prospect; I didn't realize your kicker was a senior last season.

He wasnt. Malzahn's policy is that only 2 scholarships are used on special teams. We had 2 kickers and 2 punters on scholarships last year. Not a single one of them graduated, so Malzahn pulled the scholarship of our long range FG kicker and kickoff man who transferred. Both Punter's are seniors this year, so he let them keep theirs. Our short FG guy is a Junior this year who retained his scholly.

This kid we're bringing in is walking on this first year, and will pick up one of our punter's scholly's next year and begin handling punting duties then.

The 68 yrd field goal wasnt kicked in high school, it was kicked in workouts here at school, off the ground. He's got an absolute cannon for a leg, but he's got little experience with organized football.

I was really hoping that Baer graduated.

that guy was their D last season. When you have 90-99 years to get 3 stops that is a huge advantage.
