Coach Malzahn's Plans for stAte
Posted today on Facebook by AStateNation.com:

An interesting quote in the AStateNation Story with Springdale Har-Ber's Josh Frazier

Frazier got a chance to hear about Malzahn’s and ASU’s plans for the future. “He told me about the new facilities they are building,” Frazier said. “They told me that they are building a 120-yard indoor facility just like Arkansas has. They are going to get a new jumbotron, they plan on tearing down the old press box and building a new one that goes around the stadium.”

Wow....the press box will go around the stadium? I haven't heard that rumor yet. That would be sweet.

Maybe a dumb question, but... How do you build a press box around a stadium that isn't bowled?

Don't think that would make much sense. I believe what they could be meaning is that it will be cover both grandstands. Connecting it is possible but their stadium is kinda a weird shape.

Frazier must have been mistaken. What Malzahn actually said was "when I get to Arkansas next year, we'll have a 120-yd indoor facility".

Just kidding - SBC needs to retain as much coaching talent as it possibly can. I hope guys like Malzahn and Hudspeth are in it for the long haul.

Our stadium will be reshaped with the addition of the indoor facility. The North endzone bleachers will be moved to the corners and the new facility will be built there. We will have two facilities on both ends of our field with suits. The press box will not be built during this time. It will have to wait a few years.

Man, I would think a Pressbox of that magnitude would cost at least $50 million.

It won't go all the way around the stadium. It will replace the old one on the West side to go along with the boxes in both endzones.

Building a bridge over a river make sense. Building a press box over a gap in a stadium? Not so much.

My understanding is that the stadium will become a horse shoe on the lower level....which was the original design.....so there won't be any 'gaps'.

Yeah, I get that but that wasn't initially explained, my response was directed specifically at Manzano's response and just speaking in hypotheticals.

So do we!!! With Hudspeth pretty much guaranteed $850K this upcoming season I am hopeful that we can retain him for another 4-5 years. I dream about him pulling a Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson and making his name here.

The press box would be on the "home" side. We would have to build a whole new facade on the other side for another box. We don't have that kind of money and you might as well build a new stadium if you are doing all that. Also, it won't be "bowled" in except for the lower level from what I hear and that's just the north end with the new complex and facility.

He has said he wants to get to every HS in Ark and recruit the state hard. I'll gladly take Willie and let Him get our talent from FL...

There are about 25 D1 prospects out of Arkansas every year. Malzahn would love to sign about 20 of them.

Arkansas is really undervalued in talent because very little of the 25 players are considered top tier recruits. But we have a ton of 3 star athletes that come out of here that get a lot of CUSA/SBC offers. That is what ASU wants to lock out. Keep the Southern Miss' and La Tech's of the world out of the state.

The number 1 running back in the nation is from arkansas. He now plays for ASU thanks to Gus. I will gladly take that any day. Arkansas is full of FBS talent that the Auburns and Ole Miss programs steal every year. If Gus can get half of them to stay in state and come to ASU then I will be very happy.

Arkansas is load with RBs

Assistant coaches already went to every HS in Arkansas in one week last month . . .

As far as you preferring Taggart's recruiting over Malzahn's . . . well that isn't going to work out well for you. Malzhan had 250 or so kids from 8 states on campus Sunday for a one day camp.

And he already whipped Taggart on last year's class on short notice.

Malzahn probably won't be at stAte long - but he won't likely be out-recruited by WKU while he is.

You mean left over talent after Florida, Florida st, Miami, UCF, USF, and the SEC take what they want. You could also say what FIU hasn't already taken as well.
