Ugh.

At least NMSU had a 59 RPI last season and at least brings football.

true but not a good analysis because uta has just added a new arena and increased support which should help recruiting and thus improve their standing..

RE: UTA to the Sun Belt in 2013 ...

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I really don't think it'll matter at this point. Collectively, the presidents of the SBC schools are determined to add schools like UTA who literally offer NOTHING (not even football)but a market. I seriously don't think ANYTHING we can say or do will get them to start actively making wise decisions for the conference.

Have you even tried to write an email? It takes 15 minutes :)

UTA has nothing to do with the decision to add football schools.

They have no football program and the university has no intention of restarting it.

the university is open to the idea and the students have voted for it and have approved an athletics fee which is added to their tuition...the uta pres. is smart and will not start football until the resources are available...

Starting a FBS program at UTA would take 5-7 years even if they wanted to start now which is not a given(FAU's program took 7 years to go from scratch to sun belt and thats was with Howard Schnellenberger as a coach and promoter).

Georgia State the last five years:
2011/2012 - 146
2010/2011 - 223
2009/2010 - 244
2008/2009 - 232
2007/2008 - 302

Five year average of 229.

Both are crapshoots but we are hoping that we're adding programs that are on the come, not just showing a temporary sign of life.
And, of course, GaSt does bring football.

utsa did it in 2 years and they never had a football program before as uta has...there is already a stadium on campus with weight rooms and workout facilities and offices and the stadium would double as practice field..much more to start with than utsa...just saying..it could be done fairly quickly...would take a few years of recruiting and playing to become competitive.....

Ouch! The past is true but don't take this to the bank in the near future. Our rpi will be much better in the next few year based on the coach and recruiting.

Last year was was bad rpi in big part because the prior coach loaded up on teams that were easy or had a big down year.

Yeah, sort of like UTK, UAT, USC, TAMU, UGA, FSU, BYU, SDSU, UND, UCLA, UTEP, UNC, WFU, NCSU, EMU, CMU, PSU, OSU, SMU, TCU, VTU, UAB, USM, MSU, ASU, NMSU, UNM, etc. "Alphabet Soup". Now that's really unique.05-stirthepot
