We were a middle of the pack team last season. Look at the standings.
Congrats. Took ya 7 years. Maybe you can get to 6-6 next year
Troy went 3-9 last season, and lost to UNT. You should worry about Troy.
We did go 3-9 last season, Cant be the best every year. but UNT is use to those 3-9 seasons arnt they? Also if you think we will have another 3-9 season this coming season your in for a rude awakening. Troy has never had back to Back losing seasons under Larry. and that dates back to the 91 season.
I still say that FIU, ASU, ULL and WKU will be ahead of Troy this season. Never doesn't mean it can't or won't happen.

RE: Makes me to Angry!
FIU got lucky with a really good hire as head football coach and beat its first ever aq member (Louisville of the Big East) and still has to answer whether anyone in Miami will care if they succeed. They have an absolute dumpster fire of a mens basketball program which was headed until recently by the great zeke (isiah thomas). FIU has a good football team currently and a better coach.
North Texas has improved somewhat after hiring "he won so big in high school so hes definately the guy for our college" and teams arent scoring 80 on them anymore. UNT has a nice new stadium somewhere miles from Dallas and Fort Worth. Their program has been, recently, the worst in the Belt on average. Their basketball program is one of our best.
FIU takes a football program thats good from us but wasnt our best. UNT takes a basketball program that is good but wasnt our best. We replace UNT's program w Georgia State and UTA (I think Arlington's between Dallas and Fort Worth) so all we've really lost is one of our better football teams and our most challenged basketball program.
Both were worth keeping. Neither are worth crying over. They're replaceable and have been replaced. Both had problems (high school coach?/Isiah Thomas?). They weren't too good for us. Dont even get me started on Charlotte's non existent football team and their "will we even qualify for the 12 team A10 conference tournament" basketball team.
Let's do our thing, which is improve constantly, and let the CUSA crowd continue in their current direction!

Not really. We had some 2 win seasons in there during that bad stretch.
I do think Troy will be better next season, but I don't think they will be good enough to beat UNT at Apogee.

I do wish FIU would have stayed, but I'm not gonna cry over their departure. They made a mistake IMO, but I am not on their BOT so my opinion doesn't matter.
ALSO. I Hope EVERY SBC team gives UNT and FIU a farewell A$$ beating.
lol!... I bet you do, but that won't happen.
Maybe not....But Count on Troy as being one of the ones that will.
First Troy will have to prove they are more than a middle of the pack team in 2012 behind fIU, Arkansas State, ULL and WKU.
It will be tough, but we get all four of those teams at home. We are 4th in the country in home field advantage since 2001. (research by Phil Steele). Boise, Oklahoma, and one other, Texas I think, are the only ones ahead of us.
Go ahead and count UL as a win for the Trojans, we're 21-0 in home openers and are unveiling our new astroturf, as Larry Blakeney Field. These kids will be hyped. Great view of the new basketball arena from anywhere you sit as well.

You didn't get to play any of the top teams in the SBC (except for WKU) at home last year; in home conference games, you beat ULM (3 conferences wins), MT (1 conference win), and FAU (0 conference wins). So to base that UNT is hard to beat at home off of that isn't very sound logic because you guys would have most likely won those games on the road as well.
I can't help it if half the conference was really good, and the other half was really bad. Next season we get most of the tough teams at home, so I guess we will put my theory to the test. FIU, ASU, and ULL all come to Denton. We did beat Indiana at Apogee. That was a week before they gave Penn State a big scare.

This will be a Special year for Troy, I feel it....we have beaten every Big school at home since we moved to D1...Marshall in 2001, #17 mizzu in 2004, Oklahoma State in 2007.......and maybe Mississippi State in 2012?

Obviously the reasons they lost to ASU, ULL, and WKU in football this year were because they took the game easy because they felt teams like us were beneath them. It has nothing to do with the fact that they got beat by more talented teams or anything.
Did FIU have a winning record overall against ANY member of the Sun Belt other than WKU (a move up)?

I'm just saying you can't state that UNT is nearly unbeatable at home just based on last year. You guys might very well go undefeated at home next year; if that is the case then your claim will be more valid.

RE: Makes me to Angry!
FIU has had exactly 2 winning season ever. One was a big, bad 7-6 season and an 8-5 season ending with a loss to a MAC team in a Bowl Game. One bowl victory ever.
UNT hasn't had a winning season in 6 years. And next year body bag schedule consisting of road games at Houston, Kansas State, and LSU (with the only OOC home game against a FCS team) isn't looking really good for UNT's chances for a bowl game next year.
Don't get me wrong, you aren't the worst two programs in the Belt (although UNT has been competing for that august "honor" recently), but you certainly aren't 'too good' for the Belt as far as your demonstrated performance on the field is concerned.
I don't think you'll fail against CUSA competition. But you don't have to be better than a Belt team to be marginally competitive against such FBS powers as UTEP, UTSA, Rice, Tulane, FIU, UNT, UAB, Charlotte, and Old Dominion.

But UNT is good at Tennis and Golf
I think they will compete I mean conference USA does have FCS teams and teams like UAB, UTEP, and Tulane. And let's not pretend Marshall and ECU are Boise States.
I see them as a 4-8 team most years in football and a .500 team in basketball. And they probably will be in the upper half in non revenue sports because no one else cares as much.

The sad thing is it's all moot. If the big three (football, basketball, baseball) meant something to bigger conferences, MTSU and WKU would be gone already. Troy might be gone too (great football, and baseball, basketball usually sucks, but a recent championship). Troy isn't going anywhere because of market. And maybe, just maybe, in some wierd way, the sunbelt ends up a winner because all the other conferences are gobbling up big markets and not our good programs.

The guy brought academics into the picture. I never understood why anyone would try to one-up someone on a sports forum in anything other than sports. "Oh yeah!? Our academics beat the HELL out of you guys!! Oh really...have you even SEEN our Class 15B research institution!?"
People will go out of their way to not talk about their crappy sports program, on sports message boards.
