Yea, it just goes more to JMU's cryptic approach all along.

Yep, it is all politics. Keep shaking hands and kissing babies in the CAA so you do not burn any bridges but if the MAC/Sun Belt/CUSA comes calling, they'll be out the door in a heartbeat.

Yea, Liberty chose to just come out and tell the Big South they wanted to leave. I like that better. I mean you can do it a thousand ways, but JMU fans are not happy, LU fans are.

This is true. July 1 cannot come fast enough.

JMU is sort of in a pickle because the most logical FBS landing place, the MAC, has a collection of small market schools and one would figure they'd make a play for a larger market for number 14 as they did with UMass.

I like what JMU and Delaware could bring to someone's table. Whether there's a place is another story.

Interestingly, if the CAA manages to convince CoC or Davidson to come onboard, then App and GaSou must start panicking. The CAA could invite Furman as well. The CAA/Southern fight is one Im glad we have no piece of.

Just so you know the MAC schools are actually located in some fairly large sized markets.

Kent State/Akron-19 (Akron Cleveland)
WMU-38 (Grand Rapids Kalamazoo)
Buffalo-54 (Buffalo)
Ohio-70 (Huntington Charleston)
Toledo/BGSU-75 (Toledo)
CMU-68 (Flint Saginaw Bay)
Miami-66 (Dayton)
EMU-12 (Detroit)
NIU-3 (Chicago)

UMASS-113 (Springfield) though it does bring in a nice new state.

Ball State I have no idea it is small.

Only 1 is located outside of a top 100 DMA (and that is the school you say is the big market). 1/3 of the conference is in the top 20. Markets are not the MAC's problem. I will note that UMASS will play their football games "over the border" in the Boston DMA (8).

Newest quote from JMU Admin...

http://www.whsv.com/sports/headlines/JMU...77565.html

Quote:JMU Senior Director of Communications Don Egle, "JMU has a very strong track record of remaining committed to its entire athletics program," said Egle. "When you start talking about decisions made by VCU, they specifically stated basketball, ODU was specifically talking football, that's not something JMU has done."

and

"At least some of JMU Nation want the Dukes to be an FBS (football) level program, but at this point, it's not something the administration is focused on."

Yeah that was yesterday's comments. Hopefully the upheaval starts to change their tune a little.

Wow, jmufan. People in Boone would be torching the new athletics center if that was the message that came out of the administration. No need to build it if the intention is to keep slumming in the SoCon. Same for JMU and the CAA. In the end, both may be relegated to this failed experiment called FCS football, but even if they haven't ASU's administration is giving its supporters the impression that it's trying.

RE: JMU committed to CAA
There are a whole lot of people that are upset that the Administration. In the end though, it is the outgoing president that has been against a move to FBS. Bourne got burned last year when he made that 18-24 to FBS comment. Thankfully, the outgoing president leaves June 30. I really have a lot of disdain for the JMU administration right now. That whole department needs to be let go, especially after the Marist debacle.

RE: JMU committed to CAA
JMU should really attempt to do the A-10/MAC thing like UMass. Time may be running short if Delaware has really started to sniff around the MAC. While the Hens were sleeping, the Dukes should have grabbed those invites, because now the MAC might develop the hots for Joe Biden's favorite team. There is only room for 1 or 3 more football-only schools in the MAC, not 2, so time is of the essence.
